Julin Castro: I'll announce possible presidential run by end of the year

Former Obama-era Housing Secretary Julián Castro says he will announce by the end of the year whether he plans to run for president in 2020.

The former mayor of San Antonio said President Trump is taking the country in “the wrong direction.” He said he supports a foreign policy that is less forceful and not “necessarily” based on military power.

Castro, who was once considered as a possible running mate for Hillary Clinton in 2016, said Trump is taking the U.S. “backward.”

“This the most corrupt administration that we have had in this country in a very long time,” Castro said.

Castro, who is also helping “young progressive Democrats” in this year's midterm elections, has not been shy about his political ambitions.

The potential candidates all look good to me anyway. Biden, Warren, possibly Bernie. I didn't vote for Bernie last time, but I was already committed to Hillary anyway. I can't wait to see what the Dem roster will look like this year. We have the best debates!

IMHO if the old farts would get in line behind the next generation (Kamala, Julian, etc.) and stop trying to put their geriatric toes in the water. I say this as an old fart. Perhaps they can run a few rounds to keep the young'uns sharp, but drop out soon and put all your prestige and money behind someone who can actually win and attract the millennials who are so eager to vote.

Everyone that wants to run, should. The people should be allowed to pick who they want regardless of age. The primaries are for narrowing down the choices to the one candidate to get the nomination.

They should NOT drop out because "oh, the young'uns". The "young'uns" will have their chance if it doesn't happen for them this time around. They're "young'uns".

The millennials need to get out and vote in the primaries just as they would in the general if they want their candidate to get the nomination. We shouldn't be expecting the older candidates to drop out because "young'uns".
