"Former Allentown City Solicitor Susan Wild won the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvanias 7th Congressional District on Tuesday, a victory boosted by EMILYs List and party officials who backed her bid.
Wilds hard-fought primary win in the Lehigh Valley-area district reflects the resilience of mainstream candidates against challenges from a resurgent populist left and the partys conservative old guard.
Her candidacy in the general election provides Democrats with a crucial opportunity to flip a GOP-held seat as the party seeks to win a House majority."

(18,252 posts)That's not any kind of victory. Their candidate was more likely to draw votes away from Susan Wild rather than from John Morganelli.

Their candidate finished third, far FAR from a "big win"!!

(18,252 posts)The HuffPo piece was the only article available, so I linked to provide at least some context.
You are correct in saying that it was imperative to defeat anti-immigation, anti-choice, Trump supporter Morganelli.

(83,746 posts)I do not see it that way at all. So rude you had to rush to their defense and make a rude comment to me to make up for a perceived rudeness?
Alrighty then, Carry on. Woah.

(29,067 posts)First, you misstated her "may have" misunderstood to an "I did" misunderstand, and then used that misstatement as the basis for a snarky, unnecessary retort -- "Thank you for understanding that you misunderstood".

25. It seemed from the article that their main goal was defeating Morganelli
But it is possible I misunderstood.
Seems you jumped the gun with your rudeness to me. Sad you read things as snark when I had read both his responses. Carry on. I am done here.

(18,252 posts)"The Lehigh Valley-based 7th District is a top Democratic target, especially after it became more competitive under the new congressional map imposed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The court threw out the old map in January, ruling it was an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander. The 7th is the successor district to the old 15th, previously represented by GOP Rep. Charlie Dent, who resigned last week. President Donald Trump carried the old seat by 8 points in 2016, though under the new lines, the district would have backed Hillary Clinton by 1 point."
