(17,335 posts)districts are still gerrymandered. The state supreme court ruling only affected the federal congressional district map.
I think if someone challegened the state districts, they might win because they don't follow the compact and contiguous mandate in the state constitution either.

(167,153 posts)and they were redrawn by court order in 2012. The current boundaries finally went into effect for the 2014 election after appeals to the state Supreme Court in 2013 (where a unanimous opinion put the current iteration into effect).

(167,153 posts)can be put in place for redistricting (for state/federal districts) before 2020 but that will a difficult outcome to achieve - especially with the latest effort to reduce the number of state House seats. However at least the whole gerrymandering issue is finally on the public radar in a more significant way than in the past.

(167,153 posts)so that if one of these days, someone finally sees the light about Metcalfe and removes him from that position, Wolf will be there to sign the bills. I know they have been somewhat bogged down with reducing the size of the state House as it is.

(167,153 posts)and may be a good sign for the new PA-1 congressional district (which includes all of Bucks County and a little of Montgomery). This state legislative district is winding through central Bucks County and is within PA-1.
