(18,250 posts)The candidate backed by "New Progressives" like Nina Turner, Linda Sarsour, Winnie Wong, and the fine folks at The Intercept lost last night.

(18,250 posts)It was probably wise of Our Revolution to jump on the bandwagon in pursuit of some positive spin.
I was talking about the race in Pennsylvania's 7th district and this story in The Intercept:
"Pennsylvania Primary Pits a One-Time Trump Democrat Against Bernie Sanders and EMILYs List"
Guess which candidate finished third?

(2,872 posts)Christina Hartman dropped out, that is why it was unchallenged - it still doesn't change the fact that your anti-progressive slant is incorrect.. I mean there were many "evil" Nina Turner supported candidates that did quite well..

(37,428 posts)...or anyone with a similar message, and it's because of someone who isn't running in those races.
Turning leftward seems to have been a defensible, even a winning, stance this year. If Our Revolution has any legs, a few victories is exactly how we would expect it to begin. We shouldn't fear gradual evolution like this. It's not a rebuke of anybody; it's evidence of an evolving electorate. We'll see where it leads.

(2,872 posts)that goes against one would think is Democrats and left leaning folks best interest.. I don't get it, even though I get it.. get it

(18,250 posts)Our Revolution is a dark money organization. There is nothing progressive about not disclosing who is actually funding your organization. Our Revolution doesn't get a pass from me when it exempts itself from transparency and accountability when it comes to its donors.

(58,785 posts)And if everyone specifically wants to claim this candidate, that's literally good for all of us too.
Hope to see more of this arguing over who gets the glory as more of our people win.
Backing a tiny handful of passionate but usually bad-fit candidates in 2016 and 2017 was a losing game before it started. Moving out to embrace at least some of our many good Democrats who can also win elections is not just a far more competent strategy, but a morally responsible one on the right side of history.
Go, Dems!

I don't know which account is true. I wish Democratic factional squabbling would stop, both on DU and JPR.
Meanwhile ... Net Neutrality save. Yay!
