CNN's United Shades of America airs an episode on Gullah Geechee culture

This was obviously a few days ago but I don't get to watch it live. Caught it last night and it was very interesting since it wasn't something I was familiar with. My mother spent a lot of time in Charleston SC growing up so she had some understanding of it but it was revelatory to her as well.

One of the takeaways for me was something that I love; language and how one has to properly view things. The conversation about halfway through gets the host, Bell, to shift from says "slaves" to the "enslaved". It's an important distinction and one I know that I'll be working to make sure I use going forward in conversation/dialogue about issues.
