Holocaust museum

The boys have field trip tomorrow Friday to holocaust museum. This morning over breakfast after I got off work. We were talking I will not see them tomorrow morning as they have to be at school early. Their mom will drop them off for field trip, now both boys are thirteen.

In that I explained and too the boys they have idea of holocaust. I told them of the time army infantry 1985 we went as platoon to DACHAU. and on the bus ride to dachau we were light in heart joking no clue . But in tour and seeing this we cried. Even our NCO’s who were Vietnam vets cried. And the bus ride home was quiet somber all in reflection of how could humans do this to each other.

And I told the guys a moment I had it was perhaps 85 winter. I’m sitting in EKU pub in butzbach west Germany I was stationed at Kirch goens in infantry battalion. And sitting next to me was a gentleman who reached for his cigarettes. And as he reached I noticed a camp tattoo on his arm. And this man and I started talking as I bought beers for him and I. His English was not that great and at time my German was not conversation German. But we found that we both spoke Russian as I grew up with immigrants from Russia.

At that time he was my age today around 52 I was 19 in age. And in talking I discovered he was a child in death camps in Poland. I asked him how he could live among the people that did this to him he lost all family. And he told me my boy you cannot live life hating and then to stay in the West after the war. Was better than going back to Stalin’s Russia. You have to live to live. I never ran into him after that day but I would stop at EKU pub in butzbach looking for him.

Today if we replace immigrants in listening to king moron speak if we replace Mexicans or immigrants with Jews. If we replace president with fuhrer trump sounds like nazi Germany . I can’t do hate I am disgusted by today as we all our.
