(130,895 posts)philosophy favored by the Kochs: The White House has pursued foreign tariffs, taken a hard line on immigration, and approved a massive spending bill that would increase the deficit.
As the Republican Party moves further away from the Kochs' ideals, it appears that their network has begun investing in bipartisan efforts that unite members of both parties.
In recent years the Koch network has pursued issues such as criminal justice reform, letting terminally ill patients try experimental medical interventions, and protecting DREAMers immigrants in the U.S. who were brought to the country as children which draws interest from both sides of the aisle. . .
The LIBRE Initiative's new effort takes place within that context. They will send mailers to more than 100,000 homes, thanking Democrats and Republicans for their work on a legislative fix for DREAMers.
Democratic Reps. Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico, as well as Democratic Reps. Raul Ruiz and Pete Aguilar of California will be the recipients of this political ad push, as will Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del. Luján is the chairman of House Democrats' campaign committee.'

We have an aging society, they need customers -and- workers. It's basic economics to them.
They also realize the demographics are changing and unless reps move back to the center and reah out to minorities, especially latinos, they could lose more elections than they'll win in the future.

(34,661 posts)MONEY. And Koch Consumer Products Divisions are about to take a big time hit. This so called Tax Break gives them a instant bag of money in the short term, but,as the economy shrinks, what out below.
Talk to anyone in the Consumer Retail field, the traffic numbers are south bound. And it is not Amazon, watch for Amazon to start squealing by the end of summer.

(54,372 posts)If the Republicans go with some ridiculous scheme that fucks up our agriculture royally and makes things MORE expensive, that grates on their libertarian way of thinking. Refusing to exploit some poor souls willing to do back-breaking work for low wages does, too. If the Democrats are willing to tolerate the low pay for the migrants in order to make food cheaper and more plentiful for the masses, well that fits better with the Koch's libertarian bent than the Republicans' penchant of being mean just for the sake of being mean. The Kochs seem to have no problem at all with mean, but not when it starts costing money. I think that's where they draw the line every time.

(5,240 posts)and a military to protect borders should exist. Police, fire departments, schools, medical care, roads, parks, etc......should only be for people who can afford them. There is no such thing as fraud. There should be no regulations, if you have issues with a company or person you sue them. There should be no publicly funded safety net for anyone, including people who physically are unable to work.
