Warner: Why doesn't Trump understand it's illegal for other countries to interfere in US elections?

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) said on Sunday that he doesn’t understand why President Trump doesn’t realize that it’s illegal for a foreign nation interfere in U.S. elections.

Warner during an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union" weighed in on a New York Times report that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Gulf emissary during the 2016 campaign who offered the help of the crown princes of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to have his father win the election.

“If the Times story is true, we now have at least a second and maybe a third nation that was trying to lean into this campaign,” Warner said.

“And I don’t understand what the president doesn’t get about the law that says if you have a foreign nation interfere in an American election, that’s illegal,” he added.

go after other countries for wanting them, when we are the only country to have ever used them and have the largest stockpile.

We're outraged with Russian meddling in U.S. elections yet ignore U.S. meddling in countless foreign elections, including Russia's.

Call it "whatabout-ism" if you want, it doesn't make it any less true. When a Russian citizen asks you about 1996, will you tell him, "We're not talking about what we did then, we're talking about what you did now."

Foreign countries interfering in our elections is only half the equation the other half is U.S. citizens and even some of our own elected politicians conspired with foreign governments to subvert our democracy.

And then when they did win, they thought it didn't matter now because they were in charge

They didn't care if it was illegal or if they got caught because in their minds, anything to stop Hillary was fair game

Where he tried to set up a sting at a Clinton rally event, had someone say 'I'm a Canadian, but I want to buy a shirt to support Hillary anyway.' And tried to get an American to take the 'Canadian's' money, buy the shirt, then give it to the 'Canadian', while on hidden camera. (He failed, like usual.)

This stuff dRump pulled with the Russians and Saudis is almost as bad as a Canadian buying a Clinton shirt. Maybe Pimpy O'Keefe could explain campaign finance laws to his repuglinazi buddies in the dRump admin.

But after that, they go on and do other stuff. Tank drivers. Missile operators. Truck drivers. Radio operators. Admin. And not all marines see combat. My nephew attended advanced infantry school and I six years never saw combat. No offense meant, but not all marines are warriors or want the responsibility of firing weapons in a school.

And if foreigners can give unlimited amounts of cash as "free speech" then it is not a stretch to say that they have all other kinds of "free speech" rights protected under our Constitution even though they are not required to follow our laws.

If the SCOTUS did not intend for Citizens United to give foreigners the right to funnel money into the GOP then let someone prosecute a foreign company for doing it and let the SCOTUS uphold the conviction. I'll bet that they won't.
