What if we dont win the House or Senate this year? Then what?
IMO, heres what:
O Republicans will be in total control of everything for another two years.
O Unrestrained lawlessness, pretending to be lawful, will continue.
O Crazies, acting in The Name of God, will continue to Act in the name of God.
O Republicans will go on claiming theyre carrying out The will of the people.
O A cabinet of ignorant/incompetent fools will continue their destruction of America.
O Wingnut judges will be approved to every federal bench. Everywhere. For life.
O Rosenstein and Mueller will be gone and Republicans will look the other way.
O We Democrats/Independents/sane people will scream and/or give up.
O The destruction of American democracy will accelerate.
O What cannot be allowed to be normal will become normal.
O The darkness that has descended upon America will endanger the entire world.
As much as I hate to be pessimistic, they can stop a "blue wave" in November with their usual Republican voter suppression tactics, along with the help of Putin.
But heres the bottom line. If they win they will remain in total control of the government. What are we prepared to do about it?
If this happens, we must all keep in mind that The Constitution is not a suicide pact.
Read what you will into that.

(15,035 posts)Republicans control the electoral systems in many states and in most electoral districts.
What "the majority" believes in, or votes for, is almost irrelevant.
A minority has ruled America for decades. I don't know what will make that any different this time around.

Do you propose Un-Constitutional remedies?
When someone says...."Read what you will into that." That scares the crap out of me.

(90,645 posts)Do you have anyone in your family who believes it's bad luck to gloat over an event that has not yet come to fruition, like the prospect of getting a big raise at work?
Do you understand that psychologically you (or we) can actually create bad luck because we are so convinced we are going to win that a critical number of people don't participate? As possibly happened in the 2016 election?
Every time I read or hear about the "Blue Wave" I just cringe.

(37 posts)Hi everyone, first post on DU.
I'm really fearing this blue wave is not going to happen. The Realclearpolitics generic ballot is Democrats +4 and historically that would not be enough to take the House. I know there's been some redistricting but if it's +4 on election day I don't like the D's chances of taking either house.
I feel like this is so easy:
$12 national minimum wage
Stand behind higher teacher pay and public school funding
Support unions
So many other issues are regional, these work EVERYWHERE. Let's win!

(205,237 posts)I'm optimistic about the "blue wave," at least in my New York district - and I have high hopes for other areas because Trump is just so crazy and offensive and it's only getting worse. We currently have a Paul Ryan protegee as a congresswoman and though this is a Republican-leaning district, she has become extremely unpopular. She doesn't even post her schedule until after the fact to avoid protesters showing up. And this is a district that ten years ago didn't even bother to field a Democratic candidate. But for this fall's election, we started out with 9 Democrats who stepped up - think there are still 7 and I have more than one favorite.
And if you're a teacher, we also have an Education Forum here, if you're interested:

(33,573 posts)given the number of Reps vs Dems running.
The House has to flip 24 seats. An uphill battle.
Even with gains by Dems, control will be difficult to achieve.
