There is not a single Trump, including Melania, I feel is worthy of respect.

He's 10000 times the man than Donald is, and 1000 times the president.
And he fucking sucked! I mean, really fucking sucked. And yet, I'd rather him than Donald.
And having a dad who was president and an ambassador and a long time public servant, at least Dubya had an upbringing of seeing how leaders are supposed to act and what basic human decency looks like (even if it was only sometimes purely superficial).
There are times that I think about the things that I said while Dubya was president - the paragraphs and paragraphs of creative hate-filled invective - and I feel bad about it because Donald has lowered the bar so goddamn low.

(13,869 posts)I was in college during Watergate. One thing I was absolutely certain of was that Nixon would go down as the worst President in history. Then Bush exceeded his horribleness by light years.
And now...........shit. Words cannot express.

(2,312 posts)Bush's illegal decision to invade Iraq killed hundreds of thousands of people, including friends and relatives of many on this board. Trump is on his way, but don't forget that Bush is already a legitimate war criminal.
I thought he was an idiot, never a traitor.

(25,853 posts)and I truly despise all the Bushes.
All of us are out and about when some stranger asks us to take their photo, and I just love doing that. Not that I've ever had the chance to take a picture of some famous person.
I have a friend who is a real jokester, and because he's younger than I am and far more proficient with the technology, he always takes a quick selfie of himself while he's getting ready to take the picture they want. He chuckles at the idea that at some point later on they'll be going through the photos and wonder who the hell that stranger is.

Lesser of two evils is still evil but one is FAR less evil than the other, IMO.

(2,166 posts)and realizing he might have actually done some good. I don't think he cared before, sad it took actually totally fucking it up to realize he might have done something good and honorable for the country and people that have been so good to him. His last silver spoon chance to have done something to be proud of rather than entitled to.
On edit, I have no idea what he thinks, but I hope he does

(21,106 posts)that was the cause of almost ONE FUCKING MILLION men, women and CHILDREN dying. Some here seem to have conveniently forgotten that.

(33,643 posts)BTW, one could argue LBJ was responsible for a similar body count. And WAAAAAAAY more of them would have been Americans. He definitely would've agreed to be in the picture, though ...
Thank Dog Dump is an ignorant buffoon, otherwise the US would already be in a major war with 10's of 1000's of deaths already under his belt.
Well, THAT and the fact that thankfully a significant portion of his 'electorate' have become much more isolationist than the GOP voters were right after 9/11, and are far more unlikely to warm up to 'boots on the ground' vs what they felt in 2003.
This is why I would strongly suspect that Dump at this point desperately desires his OWN 'Pearl Harbor'-like event, ala the one that was handed to Shrub.
Man I hope someone catches him on tape lobbying for that to occur, like that one Congressional Candidate did recently. That just might be the one and only way this a-hole can be brought down is if he's caught red-handed trying to drum up a casus belli ala Operation Northwoods. I think he's JUST dumb enough ... to get caught doing that.
Jake Stern
(3,145 posts)However his legacy and reputation were rehabilitated by positives like the Civil Rights Act and Great Society. Bush had no such cover.
In terms of casualties Bush couldn't hold a candle to LBJ or Nixon: 58,000 Americans and God only knows how many Vietnamese, Laotians and Cambodians, dead.

(79 posts)Is why President Carter, President Bush (2nd), President Clinton (and duly elected President Clinton by popular vote.. not to mention Al Gore) President Obama are not on every cable news show every day screaming about how democracy is about to be abolished in the US. How long has this been going on and if you love Obama, which I did for a number of years, ask yourself why isn't he speaking every day against this insane ahole. Has he become the billionaire class??? The Bush's hate trump but probably love his policies. I get that Clinton is damaged material at this point and the Bush's are kinda ok with Drumpf.. but what the F about Obama and Carter.... .
We need them to speak up for us.. We elected them and need their voice..
