Giuliani received the award at Buckingham Palace in London in recognition of his work with the families of the estimated 2,800 people who died in New York.
"I was receiving it not on behalf of myself, but all the police officers and firefighters and rescue workers, heroic people of New York," he said.
"It means to me recognition for a group of people that went through the worst attack on their country ever and came through it stronger ... and I'm just honoured to be their representative," Giuliani said after the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

(268,968 posts)and the same is true for all the English-speaking Caribbean people many of whom remain her fugging subjects but pay thousands to get a visa to enter England. And then of course there are those who went to help out England during and after WW2 who are subjected to deportations. Others have lost their jobs because they had no documentation and others have been denied health care for the same reason.
You'd be surprised how many folks I know with British titles and they have absolutely no meaning to me.
I have a cousin who was delighted when they received a letter (from the queen - or so they thought) when their mother died. The queen would wear gloves to shake their hands.
You see I know why they're so wealthy - slavery and imperialism. You and some of my own folks can celebrate the British titles. I don't give a flying fugg about them.

Lots of people fall from on high. Giuliani let it go to his head and capitalized off of 9/11.
He is crawling like the snake he is now.

(11,343 posts)A terrorist attack of that magnitude was unimaginable to most civilians. Giuliani always was and is all about himself.

Unfortunately, his policies - many of which, like "Stop and Frisk", which was later found to be unconstitutional, were devastating for minorities and the poor. And they had little to do with New York's drop in crime and rise in livability.

But he exploited that reputation for years and when 9-11 hit and he stepped into the huge void that George W. left that day, his stock went up even further. But it was all pretty much a myth.
