He often denounces "fake news" but it appears that on Twitter, President Donald Trump has a lot of fake followers.

A survey has shown that of the tweeter-in-chief’s more than 52 million followers, over a quarter are not real people.

Some 29 percent, or around 15 million, are fake accounts, according to a survey by Gallup, and his following of real people is closer to 37 million.

4. Ever clicked on one of his tweets and looked at the replies?

The first dozen are usually bots that are programmed to say stuff like "PRESIDENT TRUMP 2020" and "Everyone loves President Trump" and stuff like that, and they're programmed to reply to his tweets immediately after they're sent.

Then, the other bots immediately retweet them, which forces all of those replies to the top of the tweet thread, because Twitter's algorithm rewards tweets that have a lot of retweets and comments.

Every post is almost immediately flooded with lots of über-positive comments which then get tons of "likes" insuring that the "top comments" are insanely positive.

I "followed" both the POTUS and FLOTUS, as well as my senators, early on - but when I discovered that meant I was suddenly "following" Trump instead, I got rid of them PDQ!
