They better fight like hell and link this to their narrative about corruption in DC.
The Dems better yell and scream about this to draw attention to how the GOP is obstructing justice and stepping over the line of normalcy.

(58,785 posts)so the Republicans can sneak around while the nation is distracted.
Our leaders will appear appropriately before the media, but of course they're not so stupid as to distract attention while the Republicans are committing severe procedural violations and perhaps even criminal offenses while the nation is watching.
This is probably explained in Politics for Dummies.

Nunes - I'm convinced - is really trying to figure out what they have on HIM. I'm counting on Mueller to suppress that. Rule of law and courtesy be damned.

(37,776 posts)I have a meet and greet with Tom Malinowksi tomorrow. That's how I fight. We get rid of Leaonard Lances weak spineless Republican ass and replace him with a former member of the Obama Admin.
Truthfully - I'm sick of 'we'.
I'm always reading 'we' but it seems like folks never can tell me they are running for committee, running for office, helping out their local candidate, etc. etc.
Asking all of the Democratic Congressman and Women to go beg to be let in and STILL have the door slammed in their face? Publicly.
Nope - what I hope is that Maxine Waters does an interview in front of the closed door and 'questions' what the investigation has on Nunes. She will NOT lose her seat if she gets vicious. She is in no danger of that.
45 HATES her. Her alone would cause him to stroke out. I've got a short game - get the fucker to stroke out and die.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)I thought the name Tom Malinowski sounded familiar. This explains why it might, though I still don't remember. He writes for Foreign Policy, though, and maybe that's it.
How exciting to be fighting to elect a candidate with such a distinguished background in a red district that's now considered flippable. You're battling on the front lines.

(37,748 posts)The important thing though, is that you continue telling others what they should do (especially after your initial premise was illustrated to be inaccurate), rather than choosing the obvious alternative of, well... y'know, doing something on your own.

(3,363 posts)Schumer still tweets comments hoping that trump eventually behaves normally instead of accepting that the man is a criminal and will never change.
JustAnotherGen
(37,776 posts)Schumer condemned Nunes and the White House in a speech on the Senate floor, saying the White House has put extraordinary, unusual and inappropriate pressure on the Department of Justice and the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
"A man like Devin Nunes, who, I hear privately from my Republican colleagues they think he's off the deep end," he added.
Nunes has pressured the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release information about the FBIs use of an informant who met with three of President Trump's campaign advisers during the 2016 campaign. He subpoenaed the department for all documents related to the FBI informant earlier this month a request that was initially rejected due to fear that it could endanger the source and his associates.
OliverQ
(3,363 posts)It isn't just Nunes either. Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, Gohmert, etc. are all as criminal and treasonous as Nunes.
When are they going to get indicted? Maybe if GOP congressmen start getting indicted, they'll change their behavior.

(42,862 posts)It's painfully obvious and so repetitive and tiresome. Honestly, I just don't see what good purpose it serves. I do not understand the motivation for anyone wanting to smear and denigrate Democratic leadership and the party itself.
All I'm trying to say is that it's divisive and it's a cause of distrust. It perpetuates suspicion and weakens the party. Ohhhh... wait a minute... maybe the motivation is starting to come into focus.
JustAnotherGen
(37,776 posts)It has to come from the DOJ.
We can give Schumer and Pelosi a lot more Democratics - we have control over that. If you have a Republicant Congress critter like I do -
Harass them.
Terrorize them.
Go to their local office.
Nunes I have a particular bead on. He's been in hip deep from day one - and I think he's probably in very close contact with the Russkies. 45's messenger boy? Uh uh - he's going to leak it all.
We'll know by Friday everything that is going on in that meeting tomorrow. Now - you see where Schumer and Pelosi have sent a letter to the DOJ requesting they be allowed in or meeting cancelled until all are attended?
It might not be what you want - and I'm not sure of what that is. But Fed Gov doesn't work that way. Brass knuckles and battering rams are not going to get them behind that closed door.
I still think Nunes is coming out shaken.
The others - their constituents need to vote the bastards out. Democratics can't just demand they 'quit their jobs'.
Your the boss of your Congress man/woman - get them to quit if they aren't doing as they are told. Or - Fire them this November.

(32,640 posts)The party has decided to go full drain the swamp on the president's administration, after debating whether to target economic issues or alleged wrongdoing in the coming elections.
"The swamp has never been more foul or more feted than under this president," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York said at a news conference on the Capitol steps.
But midterm elections have often functioned as a referendum on the president. And the strategy is acknowledgment that the opposition party may be better off swimming with the anti-Trump tide and harnessing the energy among progressives.
"The problem is that a lot of people hear that (economic) message, they agree with that message, but they're not convinced that we can actually get it done because they view Washington as captured by special interests," Rep. John Sarbanes, D-Md., who helped craft the new strategy, told NBC News.
"We realized that every other message we're putting out there needs to be accompanied by a democracy reform agenda," Sarbanes continued. "We think that that caffeinates every other message that we're delivering."
