Why is Gowdy being briefed??

He is not in the so-called Gang of Eight, the top four from each Party.

He is not the Chair of House Intelligence Committee.

For what reason would he be briefed?

In my opinion, Trump's plan was to fire Rosenstein on the spot and replace him with Trey Gowdy.

Is that too far-fetched?

1. Paul Ryan must have given his OK, that is for certain. Also Gowdy is a lawyer, perhaps

Nunes wants backup (on whatever).

He's a weasel but I don't see him as having that sort of conspiratorial mind.

3. Gowdy is Chairman of the House Committee on oversight and government reform.

The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the main investigative committee of the House.

I don't know that there is a lot of difference in a Gang of Eight or a Gang of Nine. I will be patiently waiting for the leaks from this briefing. If it is really, really serious, I think we will initially see a lot of sealed lips. They will be sworn to secrecy.

Nunes is arrested and cuffed as he entered the meeting today; or, give that that doesn’t happen, both Nunes and Gowdy are formally warned that leaking to the Executive Branch (White House) is a felony, and that they are being “observed”.

I'm thinking Trump has some plan for him?
