FBI Prosecutor: "We're in Venezuela." No We're Not. Because Trump IS NO HUGO CHAVEZ.

...thank goodness.

You're probably seen this story from The Daily Beast, where an FBI insider laments Trump's attack on the FBI, and other federal institutions and career law enforcement officials.

"history goes forward and backward. And things go backward when the trust in bedrock institutions—which are trustworthy, by the way—is diminished for the benefit of a few. It accelerates, and you wake up one day and we’re in Venezuela."

True, but let's be fair, the United States is no Venezuela. No...American 'conservative' neo-fascists are FAR WORSE than any group they've got in Venezuela, and lack the usual excuses for being so ignorant and gullible.

Trump is an idiotic, TOY DICTATOR. He's an addlebrained, clownish coward who can't even finish a complete sentence. And yet, American 'conservatives,' with their tribal mentality STILL FOLLOW HIM! STILL DEFEND him, and (in the case of Congressional Republicans) are still willing to sacrifice their political careers to block for him, and cover for his crimes. Congressional Republicans are STILL willing to destroy the FBI, the courts, the Justice Department, the State Department, and any other American institution they have to destroy to flack for THIS IDIOT!? REALLY?

Hugo Chavez, Augusto Pinochet, Francisco Franco, and most of Hitler's Nazis were all military men. Like all faux patriots with a weakness for authoritarians, American conservatives are ALSO suckers for a man in uniform. Can you imagine how bad things would be in the United States right now if Trump could show off pictures of himself dressed like THIS...

The one thing Communists and Fascists have always had in common is a visceral hatred for liberal intellectuals, and a weakness for strong men. Particularly military ones. The Communists and the Fascists always come for the liberals FIRST, due to their perceived lack of 'loyalty' to their country and their ethnic group. That perceived lack of loyalty to country and ethnic group is actually a loyalty to democracy, the rule of law above the personality of people and the cult of personality, and a higher loyalty to democratic institutions. Fascists salute the flag, without giving a shit about the democratic principles that flag represents.

Apparently, America is now the home of the most LOYAL neo-fascists in the world! Trump has proven that this group of Americans WILL FOLLOW ANY USELESS IDIOT, as long as he's ostensibly a member of their CULTURAL TRIBE.

So, no. Let's not smugly bash Venezuela. A subgroup of the Venezuelan's fell for the cult of personality of a classical strong man dictator. To be sure, a loud, ignorant, boorish demagogue. But at least a loud, ignorant, boorish demagogue who'd worked his way up from the bottom, and showed some courage. But let's face it, the Venezuelan's are probably laughing their asses off at US, because we let such a useless piece of human shit take control of our country.

LET THIS BE A WARNING TO US. We may succeed in eventually getting rid of Trump. But if he's ever followed by another dictator wanna-be,...one with half an ounce of brains and courage...a large and loyal part of the country is RIPE FOR THE PICKING, thanks to 30 years of brainwashing from Fux News and A.M. radio. WE'VE GOT A LOT OF WORK TO DO to diffuse this time bomb!

Heh. True, but a lot of people even said that about Bill Clinton, and even G.W. Bush. TrollBuster9090 May 2018 #4

The only consolation for all of this is that PUTIN is surely feeling buyer's remorse right now. TrollBuster9090 May 2018 #3

Bush spent the Vietnam war underneath a barstool in the Texas Air National Guard, but at least he's got some pictures of himself in uniform. Trump is at a whole new level of cowardice and incompetence.

The Democratic Party voting base is so picky that we can never agree on anyone. Any candidate that gets nominated gets torn apart by their own base. I was definitely no fan of Hillary, but just look at what happened to her on this blog and others.

The Republicans, on the other hand, are so loyal (motivated by a visceral hatred of liberals, and nothing else), that THEIR candidates are getting worse and worse, and yet they win more and more. Our candidates are getting better and better, but keep on losing.

Specifically, because of that scandal where Trump agreed to sell missiles to Ukraine in exchange for them not helping Mueller prosecute Manafort.

Putin must be looking at that, and saying "WHAT THE FUCK?...Why the hell didn't I get RAND PAUL elected instead, like all they guys in the FSB advised me to?"

Putin backs Trump, and as a reward, Trump gets the GOP platform changed away from selling arms to Ukraine. Five minutes later, he's arming Ukraine to keep his ass out of jail. Serves you right, Putin!
