White Fragility Digest #12: 25 May 2018

Welcome to another VIDEO FRIDAY, everybody!

On Fridays The Digest is dedicated to spreading good information. I'm presenting some more videos which feature White Fragility as the topic, starting out with Dr. Robin DiAngelo. I hope that you all will take some time over the weekend to watch these fascinating and informative videos.

This Friday's edition will consist of an online video conferencing call between Dr. DiAngelo and two clergy members that's entitled: "White Fragility: Robin DiAngelo on White Liberals Protecting Racism"

And I'm also present a very important video essay by Black Intellectual that's entitled, "White Fragility, Social Dominance Theory, and Black Population Control." Both are about an hour long and, if you can, over the course of the weekend check them out I'm sure that you'll appreciate the insight that each one provides.

"White people in North America live in a social environment that protects and insulates them from race-based stress. This insulated environment of racial protection builds white expectations for racial comfort while at the same time lowering the ability to tolerate racial stress, leading to what I refer to as White Fragility. White Fragility is a state in which even a minimum amount of racial stress becomes intolerable, triggering a range of defensive moves. These moves include the outward display of emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and behaviors such as argumentation, silence, and leaving the stress-inducing situation. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium."
