General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsGoogle news is terrible now. If you google the Mueller investigation,
for example, only a handful of today's stories will come up in the search, along with examples of older stories. If some new document has been filed, there might be only one report on it from one outlet, and no way I can see to link to more stories on the same topic.
I've looked at yahoo.com but it seems to have the same issue. Are there any other searches that are better?

(15,751 posts)we have become conditioned to huge amounts of trump or mueller related news. I cannot recall anything like this coverage, in amount, from all sorts of sources, etc.
That said, I would like to see some Mueller coverage. I'm with you pnwmom.

Looks like having so much turned up by investigative journalists that evening shows like Rachel's have to pack whole lists of new scandalous events in an hour may have spoiled us just a little. Remember, we've never known what's really happening in the investigation, only that it keep widening, and widening, and widening.
A quieter spell with nothing but Giuliani's attempts to spin our brains is an opportunity to widen reading to other sources. This is part of a quick muse on this moment, a reminder to be patient rather than anything new though.
In a court filing on Wednesday, Muellers office said, The Special Counsels investigation is not a closed matter, but an ongoing criminal investigation with multiple lines of non-public inquiry.
This was the strongest indication from the special counsel itself that its work is not close to done and much of it is still secret.
There was also a steady stream of new revelations of corruption and possible collusion with foreign governments on the part of Trump campaign officials and associates.

(108,976 posts)by many stories from many outlets, all of which don't include the same details. If the NYTimes story is behind a paywall, with the old Google you could still read most of it through a combination of other sources. Now that's much, much harder.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)often twisted coverage to benefit the right ("often" during the 2015-2016 campaign meaning every day, or in every Hillary Clinton event for the previous 25 years), though, maybe having to look beyond the NYT sphere is necessarily a bad thing.
ProPublica's been winning awards for its own investigative journalism. These are a couple among many.
The pattern goes beyond Stormy Daniels.

(108,976 posts)and unless you want to have subscriptions to all of them, it is helpful to read reports of other sources that cite them -- or even do their own stories on related topics. It's much, much harder to find these related stories with the new Google news.

But they also do excellent investigative journalism, and like you I'm always wanting to read what they're out front on.

(101,306 posts)and then switching to 'News' - this give me the old Google News listing.
So I type 'Mueller investigation' into the normal google.co.uk (google.com for you, I guess). From those results, I then select the 'News' option from the menu at the top of the results ('All News Shopping Videos Images More'). That also then gives me the option of 'Tools' which has 'Sorted by Date', which gives you the latest ones (though that can end up being a lot of ones all based on the same AP report, sometimes).

They're claiming to be cleaning themselves up, but there's no law requiring it, their executives haven't had brain transplants, and business overall doesn't want Democrats in power.

When you open it they are the exact same stories I get on my desktop now with the new Google News. They just look like they're designed for the phone and don't work so good on the computer.
Why they couldn't leave well enough alone is a mystery. Probably saves money.
