Media Twitter absolutely erupted over Habermans post with many critics blasting the Times reporter for using the term demonstrable falsehoods to call out President Donald Trump instead of lies. (7,976 posts)Lies. No excuse for not calling then out, especially if they are lying about other people (i.e. Clinton and Obama).

(15,751 posts)Its the other end of the trump crap spectrum where we need new terminology. Trump is such a fast running sewer of all sorts of crap - much of which goes by the wayside or gets 'normalized', etc. Lies, ignorant misstatements, weird claims, 'big lie' repetition, name calling, slanders, libels, sick comments, 'melanies', hates, shitholes, no innocent children, etc. [trump dumps], the list is endless - and not accounted for.
NYT's does a service by 'certifying' trump lies and tallying the lies up, so we have some overall sense of what trump is doing, without the lies not being buried under all the ongoing/daily trump crap tonnage.
This trump crap/sewerage tonnage might be totaled up, to keep the overall trump disaster in fuller perspective, in a new category, like 'TRUMPDUMPS' of the day/week/month/year. Thoughts?: candle:

(3,335 posts)Stelter said that the public wants the media to call out Trump on his 'lies' and that's not fair because sometimes his "lies" may be an exaggeration rather than a lie, or he may have just been wrong about something and not necessarily "lying" about it. Or he was confused, or misinformed. To borrow a phrase from the Parkland High School kids, "We say bullshit." If it's exaggeration, it's still a lie. If he's just wrong about something, it's his responsibility to get the 'correct facts' before he spouts off saying something that may not be the truth. Same thing goes for if he was confused, misinformed, etc, etc. As parents we teach our children not to lie, and to get their facts straight before they say something that may be false, or not true. Why would we or should we accept anything less than that from the president. If the president doesn't have his facts straight, it's because he's too LAZY to check his facts before he runs his mouth. It's not like he doesn't have an entire Cabinet and White House staff who could verify his 'facts' before he disseminates them to the public. He spends 3 hours each morning watching the Fox News, he has time to make inquiries about whether his planned public statements are factually accurate.
No he's not misinformed Brian, he's a LIAR. And for someone such as yourself who hosts a show every Sunday morning called, "Reliable Sources" to try and defend his lies, or refuse to call him out on them, or say you don't know whether or not he intentionally lies or may have been misinformed, "I say bullshit", to you and I won't be watching your show ever again, because I don't have time to waste an hour watching your program on Sunday morning if you're so unwilling to call a lie a lie as the weekly host of a show called "Reliable Sources." I'm not going to waste an hour of my time trying to figure out whether what you say is reliable or not since you are not willing to make those kinds of judgments about a known liar. Trump has been lying all his life and everyone knows it; including you. In fact I heard that reported from someone on your network just recently, that his lying was increasing as time goes on. So Adios to you Reliable Sources. Until you're ready to call a 'lie' a 'lie' perhaps you don't deserve to have a show called, "Reliable Sources". Until you're ready to call a spade a spade, I won't waste my time listening to you.
