Trump was the perfect messenger. My Republican aunt will forgive anything Trump does as long as he persistently opposes things she is afraid of, like gays kissing in the pew in front of her in church, and immigrants entering the country to potentially harm her. Those fears were never obvious during her life but elderly right wing female friends have brought them to the surface in recent years. Nothing I say changes anything. She merely shuts it off with, "Oh sure. You know everything. Nothing I'm worried about means anything."

She is a member of the Silent Generation (1928-1945) that is propping the GOP.
