Ben Sasse (R-NE): "Make America Great Again" shouldn't mean "Make America 1929 Again."

re: the trade war that is now in full effect.

TEXT

Senator Ben Sasse

@SenSasse

About those new tariffs: Europe, Canada & Mexico aren't China. You don’t treat allies the same way you treat opponents. Blanket protectionism is a big part of why we had a Great Depression. "Make America Great Again" shouldn’t mean "Make America 1929 Again."

Of course we all know that there is a remedy for this and they wield the power to make it so. But they won't because they really believe that denial is just a river in Egypt, a place they probably couldn't find on a map in any case.

in order to manufacture a "pay to play" agreement, where countries can get "exemptions" in exchange for greasing the palms of the "family".

Of course the ones who pay the price for "non-cooperation" are the American citizens.
