I normally enjoy going to the polling place but my current work schedule won't enable me to do so. Therefore, I'm going to be mailing it in. Is there a site that someone can suggest me that covers the important details on the candidates and the props? I know I'm going with Gavin Newsom for Governor but I need some guidance/input regarding the others. Thanks to anyone who can provide input....

(149,615 posts)BEACH CITIES DEMOCRATS:
From our good friends at PV Dems!
Along with our usual array of useful information, the attached newsletter contains Judge Tom Long's judicial recommendations as well as the LACDP endorsements, so you might want to print the newsletter out and bring it along to the polls.
Below are the endorsements from LACDP for other offices. Elected and appointed members of CADEM vote endorsements for statewide offices and the LACDP County Committee votes for local offices/issues, and in order to get the party's nod a 60% threshold must be met. Even if a candidate has a majority of the votes, if the 60% threshold isn't met, then there is no consensus listed for that seat. As you can see, there are a fair number of "no consensus" offices, so if you are scratching your head about who to vote for, I'm sure anyone on our board would be happy to help you out with their own suggestions (phone numbers are on the last page of the newsletter). I consider myself more on the progressive side of the party, so if that's where you find yourself, I'm happy to tell you who I recommend for the "no consensus" seats and why if you simply reply to this e-mail.
US Senate: No consensus
Governor: No consensus
Lt Governor: No consensus
Attorney General: No consensus
State Controller: Betty Yee
Insurance Commissioner: Ricardo Lara
Secretary of State: Alex Padilla
Superintendent of Public Instruction: Tony Thurmond
State Treasurer: Fiona Ma
State Board of Equalization: No consensus
Statewide Ballot Measures:
Proposition 68: Yes
Proposition 69: Yes
Proposition 70: No
Proposition 71: Yes
Proposition 72: Yes
US Congress:
CD 33: Ted Lieu
CD 44: Nanette Baragan
State Senate: SD 26: Ben Allen
State Assembly: AD 66: Al Muratsuchi
LA County Sheriff: Alex Villanueva
LA County Assessor: Jeffrey Prang

(21,147 posts)This primary mid term election mailings are now a large pile on my dining room table. The propositions with the most mailings I vote against unless it something I already agree with. Money has truly ruined democracy.

(51,590 posts)since on the DU homepage there is an article that says Antonio is in the third place now but he takes money from Charter Schools. I may do the same that you're doing, vote for him to get Cox (GOP) out of the running come Nov. Good strategy.
****Antonio Villaraigosa is struggling to secure second place in the June primary election for California governor and is several points behind Republican businessman John Cox for the No. 2 slot, according to a new poll released Thursday.
Cox was favored by 20% of voters surveyed in the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll. Villaraigosa, the former mayor of Los Angeles, had the support of 13%, according to the poll. Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, the front-runner in polls and fundraising since he entered the race in 2015, was the choice of 33% of likely voters, according to the poll.
"We think it's likely to be Cox against Newsom in the general election," poll director Mark DiCamillo told the Sacramento Bee.
The trend lines of the poll are similar to other recent surveys that suggest Cox is successfully consolidating the GOP vote behind his candidacy, notably after his endorsement by President Trump earlier this month.
Among the other candidates in the race, GOP Assemblyman Travis Allen of Huntington Beach was within the margin of error of Villaraigosa, with 12% support. State Treasurer John Chiang and former state schools chief Delaine Eastin remain in the single digits.

(5,312 posts)...(thanks, forgot his name)...with Cox out, it would be two Dems for the final, and Gavin is the clear favorite.
Cox is a Trump endorsed repuke, needs to be eliminated before November.
