I hope not. She is not afraid to ask the hard questions. I always thought she was too good at her craft to last long. She will be going the way of Soledad, Tamara, Melissa Perry, Carole Simpson?
Truthers...much too effective in getting at the real issues. Fo that they all had to go.

MSNBC haters celebrated news yesterday that the network would be canceling AMJoy. The show and its host Joy Reid has racked up no shortage of detractors over the years.
The only problem it wasnt true.
The fake news spread as a result of this tweet from Wired Sources, which cited TVNewser.

(1,461 posts)9-11 conspiracy/Alex Jones pushing, attacking Israel, attacking immigrants, attacking John McCain, etc etc, a tonne of leaks have been coming out again. I am positive this is a reaction about Roseanne from the RW, but some of the kingpins of MSM are picking it up now.
MSNBCs Joy Reid is losing her standing to criticize Trump
A newsmaker appears to have offended the LGBT community, embraced the work of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and attacked Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and it is not President Trump
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/06/01/msnbcs-joy-reid-is-losing-her-standing-to-criticize-trump/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.0ada96178a82
Trump has done each of those things, but it now looks as though MSNBC host Joy Reid has, too, which creates a problem for the liberal commentator. With each revelation about old entries on her defunct blog, Reid is losing her standing to criticize the president a core function of her weekly program.
BuzzFeed reported Thursday that a 2007 http://blog.reidreport.com/2007/10/baghdad-john-strikes-again.html" target="_blank">post on Reid's blog featured a photoshopped image of McCain's head on the body of Virginia Tech shooter Seung-Hui Cho. The post mocked McCain, then a presidential candidate, for telling workers at a New Hampshire firearms factory that I will follow Osama bin Laden to the gates of hell, and I will shoot him with your products.
How illustrating McCain as a domestic terrorist compares with saying he's not a war hero, as Trump did in 2015, is a matter of opinion. But both commentaries exceeded the bounds of standard political discourse.
BuzzFeed reported earlier this week that http://blog.reidreport.com/2006/03/official-story.html" target="_blank">another Reid blog post, from 2006, promoted a film on which Jones was an executive producer. Loose Change contends that the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were planned by the U.S. government, a false claim that Jones often repeats on his radio show and on his website, Infowars. Jones has similarly claimed that the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut was a false flag operation. Trump was a guest on Jones's show in 2015 and praised the host for an amazing reputation.

MSNBC stays silent as Joy Reid comes under more scrutiny

Pressure on MSNBC and its star host Joy Reid grew on Thursday, as embarrassing posts from her old blogon which she has expressed anti-gay views and promoted 9/11 conspiracy theoriescontinued to surface.
All the while, Reid has remained on the air, weighing in on topics like Roseanne Barrs racist tweet and the cancellation of her ABC sitcom.

Wednesday night, Fox host Tucker Carlson aired a segment highlighting decade-old posts in which Reid expressed views on immigration that sounded straight from the America First playbook, including that flying the Mexican flag on U.S. soil strikes me as incredibly presumptuous and insulting to the US.
Carlson crowed, Its possible that Reid will claim those posts were written by a mysterious hacker, shes claimed that before, the last time she got caught with embarrassing blog posts. Maybe shell blame the entire thing on Vladimir Putin himself or some nameless Macedonian agent.

MSNBC Silent On Joy Reid As Blog Scandal Resurfaces
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/msnbc-joy-reid-blog-posts_us_5b105ec1e4b02143b7cae905
Reids now-defunct blog is back in the news this time for controversial posts about 9/11 and Sen. John McCain.
MSNBCs Joy Reid and her now-defunct blog, The Reid Report, are making headlines again this week after BuzzFeed reported on two controversial posts she apparently wrote in 2006 and 2007.
The posts, which feature a 9/11 conspiracy theory and a manipulated image of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) as a mass shooter, were resurrected by BuzzFeed roughly a month after Reid dubiously claimed her old blog had been hacked to include homophobic content written under her name.
MSNBC has yet to acknowledge the latest controversy surrounding the host of their weekend show AM Joy, and Reid has been noticeably silent about BuzzFeeds reports on social media.
Representatives of MSNBC did not respond to HuffPosts multiple requests for comment. Neither Reids attorney nor a cybersecurity expert Reid hired to investigate the alleged hacking of her old blog responded to multiple requests for comment either.

Says "move Israel to Europe"
Update (Bienvenu au l'Israel): Wizbang makes this Ahmad Amadinejad zinger (I can finally write that without looking it up) their quote of the day (and their readers curiously vote for France...):
"You believe the Jews were oppressed, why should the Palestinian Muslims have to pay the price? You oppressed them, so give a part of Europe to the Zionist regime so they can establish any government they want. We would support it. So, Germany and Austria, come and give one, two or any number of your provinces to the Zionist regime so they can create a country there... and the problem will be solved at its root."
I hate to admit that Mr. Amadinejad has a point ... but it was the German government of the 1930s and the Vichy French who perpetrated and abetted the Holocaust (and a plurality of the Israelis are former German nationals, plus lower castes consisting of Eastern Europeans, Russians, Sephardic Jews from the Mediterranean and at the bottom of the social pyramid, Falasha Africans ...) It does seem a tad cheeky of the British to have unilaterally awarded the victims land belonging to living Palestinians as restitution. After all, God is not a real estate broker. He can't just give you land 1,000 years ago that you can come back and claim today.
Israel is the 3rd rail of US politics, unfortunately, but I hope she survives this cocked up shitstorm

blogs were leaked. I feel bad for her. Im positive just about everyone has said something that they regret when they are young. I wish she did not lie about it though. She should have said she was young and that she made a stupid comment. And then added that she had evolved and no longer feels that way. I doubt that the evil right is trying to take her down because she does not let them get away with their spin and lies.

But a badass black woman ally who fights like a beast for everything we supposedly care about said things 10-15 years ago that she's apologized for and clearly, every day and in every way, has demonstrated that she no longer thinks or feels and she's treated like a pariah who must be punished, called out, ostracized, kicked to the curb because, according to them, she can never ever recover from the wrong of her words.

(7,113 posts)Assuming she actually did write the stuff raising so much controversy today, let's keep a few things in mind:
1. In that same timeframe, Trump was giving big bucks to various Dems, including $20K to the DCCC, and $100K to the Clinton Foundation. People's politics can change "bigly" in 11 years.
2. Hillary started out as a "Goldwater Girl," but changed her politics.
3. In 2008, Obama said he didn't support gay marriage. He eventually came around.
4. Cenk Uygur (TYT) used to be a Clinton-hating Republican; now he's a Clinton-hating progressive.
5. I defy anyone to think back to 2007 and state truthfully that back then they held exactly the same views as now on the most rapidly evolving issues, such as marriage equality (back then only domestic partnerships), transgenders in the military, legalized recreational weed, and right to die.
6. Joy has presented zero evidence that she still holds ANY of the most controversial views from the blog.
The bottom line is that some right-wing group is targeting Joy as payback for the very successful boycotts we left-wingers have staged against Laura Ingraham and others. So, to use the current cliches, it's all just a big nothing-burger, and there's no there there.
Edit: Lines deleted to reflect the statement MSNBC just released.

(7,113 posts)Are you saying that Joy holds those views now? Or that there's a cut off point in people's lives where if they've ever done anything disagreeable at any point previously, they can never grow out of it, change or redeem themselves?
What year was YOUR cutoff point?

(52,157 posts)so in 2007 she turned 39. So let's call her 38 years old. Hillary turned 17 in October of 1964 so she was 16 for most of the year. In 11 states I would be arrested for having sex with a willing 16 year old, the number of states in which that would be true of a 38 year old, 0. In 0 states can a 16 year old vote, drink, enlist in the military, enter into a contract, sign themselves out of school. In all 50, 38 year old people can vote, drink, enlist in the military (unless they are too old I honestly don't know), and enter into contracts. In many states at least some 16 year old people get tried as juveniles no 38 year old people are tried as juveniles (except for crimes they committed as juveniles). In short, the law treats 16 year old people way differently than 38 year old people. It does this for a reason.
Also there is a huge difference between how these two women reacted. Hillary wrote about this in her autobiography. Joy Reid made up a bullshit story. Joy Reid made up her bullshit story at age 49. Now maybe you are in favor of trying all 16 year olds as adults. I am not. I am in favor of trying all 38 year olds as adults. I think different people should be treated differently.
Now since you decided to be nasty and make it personal (in all caps I might add) I was an practicing alcoholic until April 9, 2000 at which time I was 32 years old. Now am I the same person now I was then, no. But part of the reason I am not is that I don't tell people bullshit stories to avoid consequences for actions I did, even while I was drunk. So yes, you got me. I was a shitty person in my 20's and early 30's. Congrats. I am sure it made your day. But at least I am not such a shitty person that I posted the nasty post you did just a few minutes ago.
