McConnell Warns Trump Could Be 'Snookered' By North Korea

President Donald Trump is clearly eager to achieve a major deal in negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but a top GOP senator is warning that his eagerness may give Kim the upper hand. If Trump is too quick to deal, the United States could end up giving away the store.

“If you fall in love with a deal, and it’s too important for you to get it, and the details become less significant, you could get snookered,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Friday.

McConnell is not the first to warn that Trump may agree too quickly to a deal with North Korea and that the United States and others may find themselves much worse off because of it.

In his statement about the meeting, though, Trump signaled that he’s willing to take his time with the negotiations, suggesting he views the summit as the beginning of a much longer process, rather than a quick win. This may give Trump and his advisers more time to work out the crucial details of the plan without giving too much away.

“We are going to start a process,” Trump said. “And I told them today: take your time. We can go fast, we can go slowly.”

McConnell is fine with Trump giving away the store. After all, he's already conferred complete legitimacy on Kim, something North Korea has craved for generations. Why not hand over the keys, too? The wealthy are looting the Treasury as it is, so the shelves are getting pretty bare.

He doesn't see it as part of a long process. This is just another version of "We'll see what happens."

His rush to make the arbitrary June 12 "deadline" shows how big a hurry he is in.

There was an article recently quoting people at his businesses who said he can't negotiate because he goes into negotiations openly saying how desperate he is, which is why he vastly overpaid for the Plaza Hotel and for the Trump Shuttle.

In 1988, he bought Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel for $407.5 million—almost $60 million more than even a high-end estimate of what the landmark was worth. “How can I live without it?” he said during the negotiation. Even Trump knew it wasn’t prudent. He paid for full-page ads in the New York Times and New York magazine. “I have purchased a masterpiece—the Mona Lisa,” he wrote. “For the first time in my life, I have knowingly made a deal which was not economic—so I can never justify the price … ”

It wasn’t his only bad deal that year. In the negotiations that April in Trump Tower in which Trump gained from Merv Griffin control of the casino that quickly would become the debt-bloated Trump Taj Mahal, Griffin found Trump practically manic. “Donald was a case study in impatience,” Griffin wrote in his memoir. “In his chair, he sat all scrunched up, as if it were a chore for him to remain still. … Periodically, he’d just get up and walk around his office. It was as if he had a blinking sign on his forehead that continually flashed, ‘URGENT! URGENT!’”

As for the Trump Shuttle?

Trump bought and renamed the Eastern Air Lines Shuttle in ‘88 as well. The price he paid was $365 million—again, at least some $60 million too much and maybe more, depending on the estimates and assessments.

There have been little [possible?] flickers of light at the end of the tunnel signs lately. [Okay, I laugh at myself and give it two candles ]

Trump is a major sucker who could be bought with a nice parade in his honor, or whispers of a Nobel prize in his ear. I'm worried our diplomats won't be able to keep his little hands out of it, for heavens' sake.

McTurtle is giving "advice" to HIS *president?
As another post up above stated, as long as the Pugs are getting their tax cuts, weaker regulations, and voter disruptions, they have no worries or concerns.
Hey Turtle! Don't trust the guy?
