Former Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner made news late last week when he declared the GOP to be dormant, replaced by a “Trump Party.” On Fox & Friends on Sunday, former Trump White House Chief of Staff and former RNC chair Reince Priebus agreed, and indicated it was a good thing.
“There is no Republican Party. There’s a Trump Party.” That’s what Boehner said last week, and Priebus mostly agrees.
“Look, not since Ronald Reagan and I’d say maybe even beyond Reagan, President Trump had a personality and a persona and a brand that’s so unique,” says Priebus, “that he sort of owns this piece of real estate.” Priebus says that the Republican Party is “a big entity” and the Trump brand is a “huge entity.” He puts the intersection of the two at “about 85%.”
Priebus then argues that Trump’s accomplishments prove that this is a good thing, and says that “anti-Trumpers” can’t deny that Trump has been doing “an incredible job.”
