Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN Updated 4:04 PM ET, Sat June 9, 2018
A fragile show of unity at the meeting in Quebec was blown apart, with the group's most powerful member, the United States, isolated from the rest of the world's most industrialized democracies after Trump pulled support for a common communique blaming what he said were "false statements" by Canada's leader.
"PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, 'US Tariffs were kind of insulting' and he 'will not be pushed around.' Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!' Trump tweeted from Air Force One -- hours after he left the summit for Singapore.
A year into his presidency, it is now clear that efforts by foreign leaders to manage and temper the unpredictable US leader have failed, and that he is who he said he would be.
That leaves America's allies with a huge problem.

drumpf fails to realize that the reason we have trade deficits is not because we made "bad deals" but because we are both the richest and most consumerist nation. We love to buy buy buy and that culture isn't going to change with tariffs on goods. We're just going to end up undermining our exporters, widening the trade gap, and we are going to keep buying until the impact of retaliatory tariffs filters down to the grocery store and once people cannot afford to fuel their buy buy buy habits anymore, they are going to be pissed..... at the Democrats (who will somehow be blamed for all this)

We are being lead into the abyss by a collection of right wing fascist fanatics and the only thing that could stop Trump, the GOP controlled Congress refuses to do it's duty.

President Trump says that Canada poses a national security threat to the United States. He has therefore imposed tariffs of 25 percent on imported Canadian steel products and 10 percent on Canadian aluminum products.

Canada a national security threat to the USA! Can you imagine a bigger insult to a nation that has stood with us and fought for freedom and democracy for generations?
