Democrats seize on DOJ's ObamaCare decision ahead of midterms

Congressional Democrats are seizing on the Department of Justice's (DOJ) decision to not defend key parts of ObamaCare in court, signaling they think the issue could pay political dividends in November.

The DOJ, as part of its announcement late last week, argued the law's protections for people with pre-existing conditions should be invalidated because the individual mandate that required people have insurance or pay a penalty is now repealed.

Despite a flurry of North Korea news on Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) started his weekly news conference with reporters by talking about health care, saying his caucus would not be "diverted."

"Democrats have not and will not lose sight of the fact that the Trump administration and the Republican Congress have systematically worked to sabotage our health-care system. ... If you ask the American people the number one issue they care about it's health care, not anything else," Schumer said.

Schumer said the DOJ's decision was "shameful" and Democrats will try to force health care-related votes on the Senate floor throughout the summer.

"This November, Americans will go to the polls knowing that President Trump and Republicans in Congress have spent two years dismantling the nation's health-care system. They'll have the opportunity to vote to move the country in a different direction," he added.

It's personal. People care the most about the things that impact them personally. It's why farmers were all for Twitler when they saw it as a way to say FU to the "east coast elites." Now that tariffs are going to take money out of their pocket they want someone to do something. Most DUers care about the world in general. Not everybody else does, sadly.

The Tea Party was founded on this. Of course the deplorable are ignorant that they didn't realize the ACA and Obamacare are THE SAME THING! They bought the Fux Ruse propaganda and when they finally realized their health care was going to increase or they would not be covered at all they suddenly changed heart. Meanwhile those of us who wanted affordable healthcare and coverage for pre-existing conditions and super high drug prices are getting sicker and going bankrupt. Their stupidity has caused innocent dems to suffer along with them. Just great!

Being under investigation, collusion with foreign powers, catastrophic foreign policy, violating the Emoluments clause, nepotism, lies, claiming he can pardon himself, cabinet secretaries under numerous investigations, bigotry, racism, obstruction of justice...

But according to Sen. Schumer health care is the number one issue concerning Americans.

If you address these problems like a kindly old schoolmarm, Sen. Schumer, you won’t win over any voters.

When we talk calmly and rationally about horrific outrages, people sense the disconnect and perceive our side as not being genuine, as though we don’t believe what we are saying. That makes people less inclined to agree with us.

So...think of all the suffering this decision causes, feel it in your gut, get really pissed off, THEN speak. Righteous anger at these daily moral outrages is contagious.

I realize this plan of raising your voice will lead to accusations of us being unhinged, but have you heard RW talk radio lately?
