Risk aversion equals stagnation and stagnation allows nascient fascism to flower into

full-blown Trumpism.

Our procrastination goes by many names. Some urge us to "keep our powder dry". Others want to delay taking any action until we "have our ducks in a row". Still others say that we shouldn't do anything until we have "addressed all possible outcomes" of a proposed course of action. All, in my opinion, are excuses for our cowardice.

It has been my experience that the surest way to insure paralysis is to insist that 100% of all the funding, personnel, time and other necessary resources are guaranteed available before taking ANY action. In other words, if there is a chance you might fail, don't try.

In Ireland, I am told, a cross-country hike involves crossing many ancient stone walls eracted to separate neighboring land owner's fields. Many are easily clmbed over and some even feature stairs or gates to aid the traveler in his crossing. But, sooner or later, the hiker will encounter a long wall without gate or stairway that is so tall that there is no apparent way to get to the other side except to make a long and time-consuming detour around it. It is at this point that a true Irishman will "toss his cap over the fence".

Every proper Irishman wears a wool cap that is special to him and without which he will not leave his house. Many were gifts from fathers when the lad graduated from kneepants to proper trousers. By tossing his prized cap over the fence, he is saying "I don't know just how, but I WILL FIND A WAY to get over this obstacle because I damn sure won't leave my cap."

We need to get rid of Trump. We need to get past the stain that he has placed on our reputation, our honor, our precious democracy.

I don't have all the answers. I am not certain of the outcome. I am sure, however, that doing nothing insures disaster.

It's time to toss our caps over the fence. Maybe it is preparing for impeachment. Maybe it is a national strike. Maybe it is two million or so of us camping on the Mall and refusing to leave until he is gone. It is NOT business as usual.

I'm done.

2. The eternal battle between Elohists and Hesiodists

During its formative period an organization has two kinds of people: Elohists and Hesiodists. Elohists are sympathetic to the first chapter of the Bible. They believe that everything has already been created and that it is very good. Reality is inherently orderly and complete. Any state of disorder that arises is an unnatural phenomenon that is transient in nature. It will ultimately be overpowered because the natural order of things has within itself the capability to restore equilibrium when upset by a transient chaos. It is homeostatic and does not need an external Regulator. The Elohist views invention as the removal of whatever is preventing the natural order of things from being fully realized. His perception of reality exerts an expansive force.

Hesiodists are attuned to Hesiod's "Theogeny." They believe that the natural state of things is chaotic. Reality is disorderly, and any state of order temporarily superimposed on it is transient in nature. It will ultimately be overpowered and converted back into chaos because the natural order of things has within itself no capability to regulate: no inherent ability to be anything but disorderly and incomplete. It is heterotactous and needs a Regulator: something external that can slow (but not halt) the rush toward chaos. To the Hesiodist, invention is an invitation to make mistakes and plunge the world more quickly back into chaos. His perception of reality exerts a regressive force.

Progressives are inherently Elohist. Conservatives are innately Hesiodists.

I never thought I would hear and read what I have been regarding politics and so called Americans for the past two years. No wonder I am sick with a fever again. The entire country is sick, in distress and needs help! I am not ready to give up and I am a stubborn fighter. # RESISTANCE!

I think I need to get a shot or pills, that stuff that is supposed to make you get better faster. I waited too long two months ago and I missed the boat and had a fever of 104.9 and was sick for 10 days.
