I don't think he gives a rats ass. He's as concerned about rating as Trump is. OnDoutside Jun 2018 #6

Goldwater's loss to Kennedy in 1964

William F. Buckley's circle defending McCarthy as a hero

Taft's loss of the 1952 Republican nomination to Ike, etc. etc. etc.

The main reason for using a number between a quarter and half century rather than one with a single digit is because this didn't start just 2 years ago.

Conservatives (and Joe still counts himself as a "real" conservative) have spent those decades creating the very same voter base that they are trying to disown. One that scorns compromise, revels in loathing its enemies, scandalmongers, and demonizes its opposition.

And one consequence of demonization and scandalmongering is that after denouncing the perfidious acts of the Hated Enemy day after day after day, 24/7/365, the base you build starts wondering when you're going to get around to doing the right thing and bring those evil bastards down. Except you can't, because it was pretty much hot air and the fogbank of steam rising off the pile of turdballs you threw at said Hated Enemy Who Is The Most Evil Ever.

So, after decades of winning them over by telling them what they want to hear, don't be all shocked, SHOCKED, that they then rally behind someone who tells them what they want to hear.

But that's what Joe (and the self-proclaimed NeverTrumpers) try to do. I see no reason to allow them to pull Soviet-grade erasures of history.

candidate whiny donnie.

If it were not for that, whiny donnie would have remained the joke he is in the American mind.

...that the republican party has almost been completely destroyed by trump and his new party, the loyalists. The remaining republicans only hope to prevent them having total control is for these remaining republicans to switch over to the Democrats side to retake control now of the Senate , and away from McConnell, while they still can, or their few remaining will be gone to , or regret letting them do this to our country.

Joe was practically scheduling a date to give him a blow job. The turnaround is stunning. As much as I enjoy the current rants, Joe and Mika share a chunk of the responsibility for what has happened to this country.
