(53,994 posts)Republicans have the majority and only they can change what's happening. They need to wake up! Don is not their lord and savior, he's a reality show star with bad hair. And there's a special place in hell for Sessions.

(476 posts)People care up to the point of moaning online.
Past that, not so much.
In 48 hours the news will move on to some other travesty and those kids will disappear back into the shadows to be raped, trafficked, God knows...
God knows how many of them are in shallow graves already.
We'll find out in 50 years, but the report will be released on the same day and Don Jr is sworn into office and so... Poof.

(15,522 posts)You wrote it to protect Trump.
I've seen some desperation in my day, but this is... world class.
kcr
(15,522 posts)to try to paint Trump's actions as status quo. I know it must be hard to see him struggling.
Are you just having a bad day?
kcr
(15,522 posts)Trump is no different than any other evil? Just the same old same old? We're all just suddenly overreacting for no reason? Should we just all simmer down now? Do you really agree with the OP? Really?
jcgoldie
(12,046 posts)That's exactly whats going on here. Its another attempt to normalize Trump. Roseanne is that you?
It's no coincidence this is popping up right now. And the closer to midterms/worse things get for Trump, the more of this we can expect to see.

(16,670 posts)The one person responsible for the US' worst recent policies is notably absent from your rant about the many evil things the US has done.

(58,785 posts)And every Tuesday the Republicans get more bad news.
Morning Joe's mood each Wednesday morning has become a useful indicator: If they bury the results of the elections from the day before deep in the show, they're really unhappy. It's been Black Wednesday for months now.

(93,617 posts)Many people went out to oppose him.
The entire fuck8ng world has a shitty history.
Things like the OP are either meant to defend trump or to make one feel superior about themselves.
Strange how these posts are popping up, eh?

(34,914 posts)The only purpose of the OP is to deflect, distract and shit-stir. The sanctimony was a nice touch, though.

(12,046 posts)Tell John Lewis that he's never done anything and so he may as well do nothing now. You are correct that the United States has not always been innocent in its international or domestic affairs. And yet intentionally separating children from their parents at the border and interning them to serve as some sort of deterrent to immigrants IS uniquely evil. That is what Trump is doing and that is what people are rightfully indignant about. Making a laundry list of previous offenses so as to make this one seem less serious is more than a little disingenuous.

(2,700 posts)Whatever this post is, it certainly is not full of right-wing talking points. This stuff is hard-left opinion, if anything.
EDIT: I want to add to the OP that your post is inaccurate. "We" (meaning DUers) do what we can, which means voting for more left-leaning candidates and trying to hold them accountable.
I would love to know what country you are from so that I can accurately portray you as being a heartless bastard as you have portrayed us.
kcr
(15,522 posts)And it needs to be called out, even if it might be a "hard-lefty" Some people have an enemy-of-my-enemy mentality that makes them act just like right-wingers, and when they do they're practically no better. When you can't tell the difference, there's no reason to treat them any differently.
ExciteBike66
(2,700 posts)These are not right-wing points, so the right-wing flag is inappropriate.
I don't think this OP should have been flagged at all. It is confrontational, but so what? I agree with the factual content, but disagree with the OP that DUers are doing "nothing".
kcr
(15,522 posts)There is practically no difference. There is no reason to give it any other flag than what it deserves.

(11,704 posts)I actually think it's more of a perfect example of how our corporate media in this country absolutely sucks.
People don't necessarily "not give a shit" about those topics, most people probably don't know anything about them because they never heard of it. And many who did hear about some of those things forget not out of a lack of concern, but because of the tsunami of corruption, disasters, and crap going on.
And of course, the corporate media never mentions any of that.
DetlefK
(16,670 posts)This "US sucks", "corporate media is evil", "fake news", "you are all sheeple" mindset is exactly what russian trolls are spreading to undermine and divide US society.
Are you implying that the corporate media is covering up all these things?
JI7
(93,617 posts)Becsuse that's pretty much what you are doing here.
The goal has nothing to do with actually changing or improving anything.

(40,365 posts)"Whataboutism (also known as whataboutery) is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument,[1][2][3] which is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.[4][5][6] When criticisms were leveled at the Soviet Union during the Cold War, the Soviet response would be "What about..." followed by an event in the Western world.[7][8][9]"

(2,700 posts)It is true that the US does bad things (even "our" politicians, sometimes) as pointed out by the OP. It is not really logical to use *those* bad things to claim we don't really care about *other* bad things.

(16,670 posts)- Using a current situation in the US as a pretext to bash it with all the bad things it has ever done.
- Bash the US, but be careful not to bash Trump.
- Shifting the conversation to bashing the US while claiming to have no agenda.
Seriously.
I'm a regular reader of Russia Today and the anti-american trolls in the comment-sections over there write basically what you just wrote.
