GOP Senate Campaign Arm Shuns Corey Stewart in Virginia

Corey Stewart, who won Tuesday’s primary, has repelled GOP leaders over his embrace of Confederate monuments and endorsements of far-right politicians such as Paul Nehlen, a self-described “pro-white” Wisconsin congressional candidate. Mr. Stewart last year campaigned for governor largely on a pro-Confederate emblem platform; he barely lost the Republican primary to Ed Gillespie, a former Republican National Committee chairman.

Mr. Gardner’s reluctance to back Mr. Stewart, chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, is at odds with the enthusiasm for him professed Wednesday by President Donald Trump.

“Congratulations to Corey Stewart for his great victory for Senator from Virginia,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter. “Don’t underestimate Corey, a major chance of winning!”

This is just a temporary smokescreen. The repubes will be back to support their pro-hate candidates when they think the time is right. repubes are not about to stop pissing on basic human decency, and American democracy.

a step too far for the Republican Party? Could have fooled me.

But, of course, the Trumpster loves him. Because a 'major chance of winning' is the only thing that matters.

Ugh!!!
