My thread got me thinking

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100210734093

I would like a journalist to calmly sit down with our current president in an interview and ask him why he admires authoritarian leaders like Duterte, Kim, Putin, Xi Jinping, and Erdogan and why he disfavors democratically elected leaders like Justin Trudeau and Angela Merkel.

I would then ask him to list all the historical democratic leaders he admires and all the historical authoritarian leaders he admires.

"How Democracies Die" by Levitsky and Ziblatt

They don't explain why, but how.

Warning: these guys must be stupid because they break Godwins Rule and compare trump to Hitler*

*According to some DUers, their arguments, even after 20 years of research, must be discounted offhand, because of Godwins Rule. Because internet commenters know more than academic researchers
