NO JOKE CNN: Trump jokes he wants US to 'sit up at attention' like North Koreans do for Kim Jong Un

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said Friday he wants Americans to sit up at attention as North Koreans do for dictator Kim Jong Un, later adding that he was joking.

"He's the head of the country," Trump said of Kim Friday during a live interview on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "And I mean he's the strong head. Don't let anyone think anything different."

"He speaks and his people sit up at attention," the President added. "I want my people to do the same."

Later Friday, Trump told reporters at the White House his remark was a joke.

We've seen a rally by Trump supporters chanting about "blood and soil" and killing someone who got in their way. President Trump said there were good people on both sides of that rally. Trump has been in recent weeks very solicitous of Kim Jong Un, trying to curry favor from a man he just a few months ago was excoriating as a ruthless dictator responsible for killing many of his own citizens and family members. Two people close to Trump characterized the outcome of the recent G-7 conference with our putative allies as a "stab in the back," and Trump wishing quite publicly that Vladimir Putin could have been there, should have been there. Meanwhile Trump's security police are breaking up refugee families, separately jailing the men, women and children, and setting up a concentration camp for the children in west Texas. After more sucking up to Kim, Trump says he wants the kind of response that Kim gets from his people. Later, Trump says it just a joke.

Any of this looking like a pattern to the millionaires who control our political discourse?
