Deep State conspiracy my ass!
I have a good friend who has worked at every conceivable level of government from local to federal who likes to say "anybody who believes in a government conspiracy has obviously never worked for the government". But with the right presentation, you can get weak minded people to believe almost anything, especially if it bolsters their preconceived view of the world. Which brings me to the "Deep State" conspiracy theory of Donald Trump.
To believe this you have to accept that hundreds, maybe thousands of long time public servants who have dedicated their lives to government service got together in a secret cabal to hatch a plot to get Trump. And KEPT it a secret! (until Trump unmasked them) Trump did nothing wrong. All of this evidence to the contrary is cooked up and fabricated. All just an elaborate ruse to get him.
OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE.....
Donald Trump is just the same corrupt conniving son of a bitch he's always been. The same lying four times bankrupt, three times married, wife-cheating, porn-star paying, lying, Russian Oligarch money laundering, contractor stiffing, lying, self-promoting, ethics free steak salesman and reality show host he's been for the last 40 years. This is the guy who ran his phony Trump University. Used his Trump Foundation to skirt any number of different laws including tax and election laws. (Did I forget to mention that he's a liar?)
Could it just possibly be that accepting support from the Russians and making a deal with them for that support was just a continuation of a lifetime of that exact same kind of behavior? Or is this just some deep state conspiracy designed to make him look bad? Which explanation makes sense and which one doesn't pass the laugh test? You tell me.
