Alan Dershowitz re:Manafort on MSNBC: "Locking someone up before they have been convicted is an anethama to liberty."
Um.
Each day an estimated 700,000 people sit in jail because they can't afford bail. @AlanDersh can we expect you to speak for these people as well?
......................
These fucking clowns are making it up as they go along......so "lock her up" wasn't about putting HRC directly to jail.

Homeless man busted in attempt to snatch boy, 2, from stroller as parents cross Brooklyn street

Seriously this would be a step up from Trumph
HELP HIM DERSHY!!!!!!!!!!!
His lawyer, William Folks, said his client was just trying to help.
To grab the bottom of the stroller does not equal Im trying to take your child from you, Folks said. That does not equate to my client trying to steal their baby.
My client had no desire to steal a baby, the lawyer added. He didnt at any point in time touch the baby.

(12,153 posts)I was looking forward to seeing him being led away in cuffs, dammit!
Article excerpt:
When former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort walked into the Washington, D.C. field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) early Monday morning to turn himself in, many waited in anticipation to see embarrassing photographs of Manafort in handcuffs, often called a perp walk.
But when the videos surfaced, Manafort was cuff-free.

(3,784 posts)EVERY person arrested is locked up. It's just that most of them are either released (immediately at the police station or later after an arraignment/bond hearing) on their own recognizance (meaning they promise to come back for their court date), or they're given a BOND/BAIL (which means they pay some money to the court as "pledge" to return to court for their court date). It's a contract that you sign with the State saying that you promise to abide by certain rules in exchange for being released. If the person violates the terms of their bond, their bond can be revoked and they will be returned to jail (kinda like what happened with Manafort). But literally EVERYONE who is arrested is locked up.
Funny, you'd think a noted, Harvard-educated legal scholar would know that.

(16,387 posts)Dershowitz was once pilloried by the likes of Limbaugh for being a liberal but I get the sense this has changed over the years because he probably views the Dems as not being sufficiently pro Israel in his eyes. meanwhile Trump hates Muslims and John Bolton has never met one he didnt want to see killed, so there is a natural attraction for Alan.

At least he'd be too busy getting laughed out of court to go on TV to make stupid claims.

Just as the Judge pointed out, Manafort was not a threat to others. He was a threat to the idea of justice itself. She had no other choice under these circumstances.
