Adrian Carrasquillo @Carrasquillo 12m12 minutes agoWhen I talk to Latino operatives and activists about who theyve noticed working on issues they care about, Ive heard Kamala Harris, who was the first Dem senator to say she wouldnt back spending bill without DACA protections, mentioned often.
Adrian Carrasquillo @Carrasquillo
This email sent this week is a good example. Its a fundraising email for DACA applications. I asked and am told she raised $70K which will cover at least 140 DACA renewals, including 50 from California who applied via @UNITEDWEDREAM.
Adrian Carrasquillo @Carrasquillo
Am also told she also used her email list to raise $366,000 for Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
Adrian Carrasquillo @Carrasquillo
She got attention for taking on Sessions but has also put in work meeting with Dreamers privately to talk DACA over the last year. Interesting then, that when I wrote about Castro heading to Iowa I heard she and Booker had already reached out to the Iowa Brown and Black Forum.

(8,380 posts)try his "name calling" shit on Harris or Booker. Each of them has more class in their pinky fingers than he has in his whole disgusting body.
I'm sorry, but I'm not quite getting the point of this post.
Is this praise, or pan of Kamala?
I really dislike when folks just add lots of social media links like tweets and such, and assume we
readers are getting the point that is trying to be made....
Say what you are trying to say, and go from there....
Just my .02..
I have no real opinion of her one way, or the other, than I get the feeling she represents establishment Dem. Values.
With a lot of talk that doesn't support her real voting record.

(15,286 posts)I think many of the regulars on DU already know each others general viewpoints/leanings so the intent is inferred. I'm still learning after only 3-4 years.
In any case, I welcome your voice, MrQRO.

It's interesting if you take the word establishment out of your sentence.
example:
"I have no real opinion of her one way, or the other, than I get the feeling she represents establishment Dem. Values. "
vs.
"I have no real opinion of her one way, or the other, than I get the feeling she represents Dem. Values."

(85,996 posts)...this is a Democratic discussion board, and this is an obvious thread in support of Kamala Harris.
Funny, you come on with concern about my support for her, then you slam Sen. Harris with "a lot of talk that doesn't support her real voting record."
It's actually revealing that you'd even entertain the idea that someone here would post this in opposition to her. Take a minute to think about that.
Just my own .02..
Aren't you hyper-defensive. I didn't "slam" anything.
I was asking a question.
I'm sorry if you are offended that your post was not clear and
I needed to enquire to it's intent.
I was not aware that this was a "Democratic" ONLY blog, so therefore
I must assume that everything posted was in praise of the Democrat being mentioned.
I'm sure you, and others, are aware of the current divisions within the party, i.e., establishment, vs.
more progressive leaning, vs. more centrist/right leaning. Yes?
So this is why I framed the question as I did (to answer another poster's comment).
It surely seems that folks are more interested in taking offense than discussing points,
or clarifying questions! But, I suppose that IS the tenor of things these days.
My apologies, for my being SO ignorant, and only here 2 minutes!
I'm glad we're all pulling together to win in 2018!

(14,174 posts)She has a lot of good things going for her.
She is an excellent intelligent speaker. She handles situations like old grumpy man McCain chastising her during that hearing very well.
She can work with ALL sides of the Democratic party. She has worked with Bernie and has publicly recognized his importance to the party, but is also well respected with establishment Dems. So she is a uniter. Imagine how much smoother the nominee process would be if Bernie bowed out because she was running, and instead endorsed her?
She is a she. I think that fact defangs a lot of the ability to attack her by Trump. I know I know, what about Hillary? Hillary Clinton was a special case who was transformed by decades of hate speech into a perceived monster. Harris is relatively fresh with not the same baggage.
And, maybe some might disagree on the importance, but she is attractive. In a stately sophisticated way. Anything we can use to our advantage is a good thing.

She has the #1 rating as the most progressive Senator
https://progressivepunch.org/scores.htm?house=senate
And I don't know how much this is important but who did some young Trump nut pick out to threaten to murder as the most liberal threats? Sanders and Harris:
http://www.businessinsider.com/maryland-man-made-death-threats-against-bernie-sanders-kamala-harris-march-for-our-lives-2018-6
"Senator, I would watch your back as you're out today," a message sent to Sanders' Instagram account said, according to the memo. "You wouldn't want to be caught off guard when I use my second amendment protected firearm to rid the world of you, you stupid, crazy old fool."
A message to Harris' Instagram account said, "I am going to make sure you and your radical lefty friends never get back in power you will never run for president, because you won't make it to see that day."
Now I think Harris is not as progressive as I'd ideally like, despite her rating. She, for instance, is more of a centrist on many issues, and rejects the purists. For instance she publicly stated her approval of having candidates like Joe Manchin, in order to secure a seat. Also she is open to accepting corporate donations. I don't agree with everything she exposes, but I am willing to compromise, because she is willing to compromise and come to the left herself on important issues too. We need unity, and she seems like someone who is respected by Hillary supporters and Bernie supporters.

(2,419 posts)We'll be watching her -- and Sanders and Warren -- to see how they get along in the next year or so.
KHarris has been on the right side everytime I've seen her -- but in the Trump era, it's easy to be right, with Trump and Republicans so consistently wrong-headed.
