We already know that Russia is working to fuck up this year's elections. And we also know that Trump and the Republicans are doing everything possible to suppress Democratic votes. Not to mention gerrymandered districts that are already in place.
If Democrats don't take over the House of Representatives this year, we will be facing two more years of total Republican rule.
I don't believe that America, our Constitution, or We The People can survive two more years of this barbaric, totalitarian attack on our institutions, our values, our morality, and everything America is supposed to stand for.
We must start organizing, not just for the November elections, but for a plan of resistance in the event that votes are compromised, or stolen outright.

(17,622 posts)..I remember when Obama was elected.. that night I held my breath KNOWING the GOP was gonna pull dirty tricks. I was SO happy when he when and SO relieved at the same time. They have a history of dirty tricks.

(15,041 posts)the faces of the pundits the night Trump "won" the presidency. They looked like deer in the headlights. And I sure as hell felt like a deer in the headlights.
Now, every time I watch Steve Kornaki swishing around those poll charts on his big board on MSNBC, I remember how meaningless all those polls turned out to be in November of 2016.
If we let them steal another one, and then do nothing, we might well end up living out our days in a totalitarian state. And given America's financial and military power, this is something the rest of the world is also going to have to worry about.

(1,028 posts)how any people in general are completely blind to the fact that there are millions of ticked off women and young voters who are very engaged and very energized to turn out the vote.
Millions of us are absolutely determined to GOTV. Join us. Find a local swing district you can volunteer at by visiting https://swingleft.org/
Also check out https://emergeamerica.org/ , https://offthesidelines.org/ , and https://www.emilyslist.org/
Join your local Democratic Party and volunteer. Volunteer to make phone calls, volunteer to knock on doors. Every little bit helps.

(12,344 posts)We are at a moment of great crisis in our country. Political crises are seldom understood by the people living through them.

(31,828 posts)And the NJ 7th is right there with you.
It's good weather - folks need to get in touch with their local party leadership. We need help. And - WE MUST take really local seats. The TEAS were very effective at that.

(14,565 posts)Given the 6-7 point national margin requirement to pick off 23 seats, some of the vital numbers like approval rating and economic confidence need to move our way. I believe in big picture and not seat by seat. GOTV doesn't mean anything in comparison to preference.
I'm heavily in the stock market but I wouldn't mind a fall decline.
