Sucks to be him. This is a teachable moment. Don't work for murderous dictators and then hide the filthy lucre for your services from the Feds.

(40,220 posts)Things I did this morning that Paul Manafort can't do:
Made a cup of coffee.
Ate leftover chinese food for breakfast.
Read the opinion pages of The NYT and Washington Post.
Read Democratic Underground.
Now watching MSNBC.
Planning to ride the new beach cruiser bike (in turquoise with a cute wicker basket) I got as a gift for Mother's Day.
Made another cup of coffee.

It led to many interesting conversations.
Most people are not following this.

(82,849 posts)At least a couple of people in my office who I thought were pretty tuned-in politically speaking didn't know anything about Manafort spending the night as a guest of the Graybar Hotel.
The follow on conversations were brief but interesting.

(94,728 posts)How do you KNOW the DC Jail didn't serve oatmeal?
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,711 posts)I suspect they serve oatmeal for breakfast. It's easy to prepare a lot at once.
Cold consolation for all the other things he can't do.

(73,605 posts)that the OP is specific to Manafort. If one seeks to place it within a context larger than Manafort as an individual, the most obvious one would be the Trump campaign/ administration. This, of course, is distinct from issues regarding penal reform. The OP, for example, does not express delight in the immigrant children incarcerated in the concentration camps this morning. Perhaps it is okay to enjoy seeing justice being served, without attempting to dilute it.

(73,605 posts)Very good!
In my case, I made coffee, consumed a cup, took my dogs out, fed my daughter's rabbit, looked at my lawn and considered mowing it, thought about what time I want to run to the store, considered going artifact-hunting, and came inside for a second cup of coffee. Oh, and I enjoyed watching the news while enjoying that second cup.

(21,188 posts)Theres two types of Justice one for rich and one for poor. Manafort lawyers are speaking to the judges now to get a release.
That said it would be great if this ass stayed in jail for a loooong time.

(9,762 posts)I slept in, luxuriating in my expensive sheets and down comforter, and petted my kitty when he jumped up for pets. He purred and purred and made biscuits with his paws. What a lovable little boy! What a pleasure it is to stroke his soft fur (Maine Coons have such soft fur) and feel him purring like a Diesel engine.
Then my darling, wonderful husband brought me tea in bed to drink. I used my echo device to listen to music my cat loves (actually called, Music Cats Love) on low and surfed the internet while sipping tea and propping myself up on my down-filled pillows.
After getting up, I took a long long shower with luxury shampoo and conditioner and a lovely smelling body wash.
Put on my jeans and a t-shirt and went down to my art studio to play with my art supplies.
Perfect morning!
