LONDON (Reuters) - Thomas Markle, the father of Britains new royal, said his son-in-law Prince Harry had told him to give U.S. President Donald Trump a chance and Queen Elizabeths grandson had also said he had an open mind about Britains exit from the European Union.
Markle missed last months wedding of Harry to his daughter Meghan, an American actress, because he was ill but in his first broadcast interview since the glittering ceremony divulged details of conversations he had held with his royal in-law.
I was complaining I didnt like Donald Trump. He said give Donald Trump a chance. I sort of disagreed with that, but I still like Harry, Markle told ITVs Good Morning Britain in his first broadcast interview since the royal wedding.
Markle, 73, said he had spoken to Harry by phone in the months leading up to the wedding when the prince had told him that he was open to the experiment of Brexit.

(10,611 posts)Harry should know as well as any member of the Royal Family that they are to remain apolitical.
Harry's relationship with the Obamas is well-known.
We DON'T really know Thomas Markle's angle, and we know his kids are a hot mess.
He's been talking to TMZ. I wonder if he didn't get paid?
But that said, IF this is true, then Harry was unfortunately naive to entrust someone with political opinion's, even if it was the father of his almost-fiancee.

(46,158 posts)Trump tried his damnedest to become his stepfather. Harry never would have said "Give Trump a chance.".
I wouldn't put it past Trump to pay Markle to get that statement out before he makes his visit next month. Now Buckingham Palace has to decide to ignore or to respond.

(5,611 posts)by using his connection to Meghan (he was giving ridiculous and inflammatory media interviews before the wedding). Im sorry but theres no way in hell Prince Harry said either of those things. I think this is totally made-up bullshit to get some $$$ and attention. Its so painfully obvious.

(6,212 posts)I doubt he would be discussing politics, being in his position. I think, with the exception of Meghan's mother,
that her family loves the limelight and will say anything. Her family has to shut up and let her live her life.
