Let's remember - Entering the US without the proper documents is a MISDEMEANOR!

If they wouldn't take your kids from you for a traffic ticket, they shouldn't be taking them for this.

Furthermore, entering the US through a designated port of entry and asking for asylum is perfectly legal. It always has been.

I have heard that they either have changed this or are trying to change it so that it is now a criminal offense.

6. Misdemeanor can be a lot more than a traffic ticket

Some examples of things that can be misdemeanors under the law:

DUI
Domestic violence
Child abuse
Larceny
Fraud
Assault


And yes, people get arrested and have their children taken for misdemeanors more often than people may think. Especially cases where they are denied bail because they are a flight risk or becuse they failed to show for a prior court date.

I’ve been there. Arrested both parents on warrants for multiple misdemeanors. Had to call DSS who placed the kids in the foster care system because the parents were denied bail based on prior history and statements they made while being transported about running as soon as they made bail.
