The cycle is well under way already.

First you gaslight the population and control the narratives...
Next you attack the press and cast them as "enemies of the people"...
Then you persist in claiming people are attacking YOU when you are on the offensive...
Continuing on, you dehumanize entire classes and groups of people ("mainstream media", "illegal immigrants"...)
Finally, you declare people 'subversives' and 'enemies of the state' and 'members of terrorist groups'...and you disappear them...

We have passed 4 of the 5 steps. What's next? Gulags or extermination camps or both.
