Now, I'm no expert, but I don't understand why Mueller hasn't reached out to him yet. His friends are saying he's ready to sing, with Donnie Deutsch going so far as suggesting Cohen might be able to connect some dots in the Russia investigation. At this point, Cohen seems ripe for the picking. I say, let's see what he's got, before 45 sees the error of his ways and picks up Cohen's legal tab in return for his silence.

(30,481 posts)I think it would have to be assumed any interaction he has with Mueller will find it's way right to Trump.

(32,082 posts)Any defense attorney knows better. Mueller was behind the infamous prosecution of Steven Hatfill as the 2001 anthrax killer. He was completely innocent and the DOJ paid Hatfill $5.8 million as a result of his constitutional rights be violated. Mueller then went after another person who finally commited suicide. The crime has never been solved.
Mueller, as a U.S. attorney, tried to keep four innocent persons in prison in the Whitey Bulger investigation. Mueller put four people in prison for years and the four turned out to be entirely innocent, and they were released. Eventually the survivors were paid more than $100 million for false imprisonment.

I think that may have been to keep trump from pardoning because it will be in a state court.

(171 posts)I believe Mueller handed off a bunch of Cohen's state crimes to SDNY; that doesn't let him off the hook for federal crimes, which Mueller certainly has jurisdiction over and can act upon at any time. So in spite of the state charges, I would imagine that the prospect of Cohen flipping would be of huge interest to Mueller.
Just mho, of course.
