On MSNBC with Nicole Wallace: "Sarah Sanders didn't get kicked out of a restaurant because she lies everyday. That didn't happen until they started putting 3 year olds in cages. Too bad on them."

(2,313 posts)Generally an asshat, I know, but he knows baseball. Pity he's a Cubs fan.
Anyway, he tells this story about former Kansas City Royal Rookie of the Year Lou Piniella (yeah, he also played for some team in New York):
Once when the Yankees' Lou Piniella was batting he questioned a Palermo strike call, Piniella demanded, "Where was that pitch at?" Palermo told him that a man wearing Yankee pinstripes in front of 30,000 people should not end a sentence with a preposition. So Pinella, no dummy, said, "OK, where was that pitch at, asshole?"

Thanks.

(5,737 posts)I remember my English teacher telling the story of how Winston Churchill, the great orator, once ended a sentence with a preposition. After having received criticism for this small diversion from formal English, he responded, tongue in cheek: "This is the sort of nonsense up with which I shall not put!"
I thought I should edit this to reveal that the above mentioned teacher told the story in the very early 1960s.

(4,757 posts)I still like the ring to that.... Besides it is the only thing he has going for him. As far as his criticism of R's fuck him too little too late to that game.

(89,262 posts)Right now we need people telling it like it is and they are doing it. There is no both sides bs and needing to balance and apologize.
And it probably helps that they were republicans since people can't just dismiss them as liberals.
Similar to laura Bush writing the op ed.

(40,219 posts)Steve Schmidt failed to have Palin properly vetted. He fucked up badly. He has also taken responsibility for it and accepts the blame for foisting her on America.
I am of the mindset that forgiveness is due when someone takes responsibility for a mistake and apologizes for it.
Steve Schmidt has integrity. His leaving the republican party demonstrates that.

(12,547 posts)are former Republicans. Democrats for some reason fear expressing themselves in direct clear language. Maybe they fear the Republican media. But no matter what they say or position they take, the Republican media will hammer them. They may as well speak the unvarnished truth. No equivocating.
