https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/05/trumps-company-isnt-tracking-all-the-money-it-gets-from-foreign-governments/527997/...In a statement accompanying his letter, Cummings said the president had two options if his company could not adequately track payments from foreign governments. One would be to do what Democrats and independent ethics officials have long urged: fully divest from his businesses. Short of that, Trump
could submit a proposal to Congress asking for its consent to a different arrangement.
or #3 - He could fucking resign!

(17,478 posts)It's too complicated and difficult to track our small business' income and expenses. We have to track in state, out of state, whether it is a service or a physical product and on and on and the rules keep changing.
Therefore it is not practical to file State, Federal or local taxes. We are not going to comply with the tax laws.
It will take a few years, but my business will be seized and they will come after my personal assets.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander, eh?

(14,494 posts)there should be electoral laws in place to requires candidates wishing to run in primary elections to certify they can properly divest from their business interests. Even better, they could be required to submit a summary of how they propose to execute that process.
If they did so certify but it was proven they did not or could not divest, then they should be subject to immediate recall.
Anyone with enough sense to get in out of the rain knew tRump could not completely isolate himself for his businesses, and we knew that the day he announced.

(713 posts)"The law is too complicated to follow, so I am exempt from the law" is not a valid legal defense. It is laughable that the Trump Organization takes this position. We are through the Looking Glass. If a Democrat tried half of the BS that Trump and his people do, the Dem would have been Impeached or Prosecuted long ago. We live in a Circus Reality where Trump is just an endless stream of legal and moral violations without consequences. Impeach, Oppose, Resist. Blue Wave in 2018, Trump out no later than 2020.

The good news for them is that they don't have to worry about that - seems as though Robert Mueller (heard of him?) and his people are busy taking care of that little matter for them.
