...that is just for her and her friends and acquaintances. Like a neighborhood, except the neighborhood "Go To" guy is not Mr. Rodgers, but Chuck Norris protecting her from nebulous, unknown boogie men or monsters who are, as Rod Sterling put it "Due to arrive on Maple Street". And she clings to it because she is afraid of a larger, diverse world where she isn't mommy and daddy's special girl and all the polite help just "leaves" at the end of the day so there's no messy conflict about the need for a pay raise to raise their families on that Daddy "Lord of the Manor" doesn't want to part with because he wants a bigger fifth wheel for vacations. She doesn't want to share the world and certainly not take an active part as her responsibility for living in it. She just wants to know her place in the world and be comfortable in it.

Most Trumpeteers are like that. They don't like a big, messy, confusing world that isn't predictable with a clear "goal"; they want the comforting lie as they get fattened up and led off to eventual slaughter well before their time.

What is wrong with the GOP? Are they cowering in an effort to save their behinds in November? The stature of our country shrinks every day this is allowed to continue. It's horrifying.

It's not a Democratic viewpoint/thing either...it's obvious to the entire world. He's causing chaos while he and his family and friends raid the treasury and destroy our institutions. They want to rebuild everything to their specifications to benefit a class of people already get the best treatment as people in this country.

grooms his mark. He has worked for several years teaching them the code words that he uses to pump them up at rallies. Remember how he used to encourage them to repeat key phrases at his rallies? (Lock her up!) He is very skilled as the Pied Piper and they are going to follow him right to the hinges of hell.

We are in very dangerous territory. He has a sizable portion of the population under his spell. Another portion of his party don’t necessarily “like” him but they like what he is doing. They think that somehow it will all work in their favor, even though common sense would tell you otherwise. They WANT to believe that he is doing good things in trade, world relations and immigration. Many of them will find that their jobs are on the line. Those who live in communities where BMW has plants or Mercedes employs many local workers could be in for a big kick in the ass if these companies take punitive measures because of the things he said or did.

I am not sure what can be done. I feel somewhat hopeless about what we can do to push back and be effective. I think being as loud and shrill as tRump is not the way to go. But silence is not acceptable either. Coming here to rant and rave is not the solution. It makes us feel better but we need active measures. I hope that as we talk among ourselves we will come together with real solutions to how we can get the message out to those captured in tRump’s spell. The base may be beyond help, but there have to be others in the Republucan party who still have enough free thought to understand they are being duped.

at his rally in SC last night. It sounded like all the other rallies he has had. He uses certain key phrases and chants. He indoctrinates his base and then the rallies are shown on tv so that even people who can’t attend get exposed to his methods. It is brainwashing 101.

Sadly, his base is caught up in it and do not know they are being manipulated. They won’t get it until they get pinched by the blowback brought on by the madman. Even then, they may not understand who has done this to them. So it is very frustrating. We need some experts in brainwashing and indoctrination to weigh in and offer specific things that can be done to counter the techniques tRump is using. Our armchair psychology is okay while we’re chatting here but we need some expert advise to be effective! I am betting we have fellow DUers who have the knowledge and expertise to guide us.

Reality Show. Observing the people at his rallies, it is clear they ARE being entertained. It is as if reality is suspended for them. They act as if tRump has come down to their world and they are on the same level as he is. In other circumstances, tRump would not be caught dead with these people. But for a short while, he acts like he is one of them. And they are under his spell. A sad thing for certain.
