I'm just done. I'm so depressed by the rising fascism. How can

we fight it? The courts aren't going to help us. I fear the election process is so contaminated that even if we have millions more vote for Democrats, we will lose due to meddling with the count. The military won't protect us.
I just want to go somewhere else to live. Want to take my son and granddaughter and leave.

1. Me, too

I wish I could leave - but I can't. I have to see my daughter through HS.

I keep waiting for good news. But it's such a long wait.

12. I could take the same line and say your op was unnecessary.

But it clearly was necessary to you. I understand the need for ignore. I don't use it but understand it makes it easier on some. I support it for that reason. Best wishes to you.

14. Nice parody of Trump-style tourism "Come to the US - We aren't Iraq"

This is a parody, right?

15. It's not a parody.

It's a practice in relative thought.

Nothing "Trump-style" about it.

I would say it's more Trumpish to sit in the US and complain about moving from behind the screen of one's $600 cell phone, but I'm not into such garbage.

4. I fantasize about leaving a lot

My husband and I have talked about it. But where do you go? If the US becomes a fascist state, that influence will taint other countries. How long before scumbags like Trump and mafia don't infiltrate France, Germany, Canada, etc? That's the concern for me. If the US falls to this, how can smaller countries defend themselves against the same?

33. No one likes us

I figured that after not too long.

I used to do a lot of traveling when I was younger/healthier. The last time around the anti-American sentiment was pretty difficult to deal with.

I came back to the USA very sad and disappointed.

We are not wanted ... but they do like our tourist $ just fine. That is the reality of it IMO.

6. Things will get better

Old angry white men will be replaced. Technology will lower costs.

The world has improved. Extreme poverty is almost gone. Kids rarely die now. Far fewer die from violence. Diseases are being defeated. Education is becoming wide spread.

Trump is just a bump in the road.

32. We need to get rid of Putin and his troll army first.

Who's to say this couldn't happen again as long as that exists? The biggest threat to the free world right now is Vladimir Putin, he's turning the world's democracies on their ears and exposing people's deepest fears of racism and white supremacy. It could be over with Trump but once the dust settles from all of this don't think it won't be over. Something much worse could come along.

8. That's part of their strategy. For us to be paralyzed with depression.

That's why a lack of civility and anger is what's called for during these times.

Find your anger and channel it. I can't believe what's happening either. But I try to make myself useful. Working on campaigns for McCaskill in Missouri and canvassing for JB Pritzker in my own state to get rid of our wannabe Trump Republican governor.

We don't have the luxury of being disengaged at this point. Nor can we leave all the heavy lifting to our young people, like the Parkland kids.

Find a campaign where you can phone bank or help out in some way.

This is OUR country too. We have to fight for it.

10. Listen to Mariah Carey

the hero lies in you. We can do this. And if not, it's always a good day to die. I tried to leave several years ago as I saw this plain as day. But here I am. So, the only thing I can think of doing is being of the most service I can to the greater good for all.

There is a buddhist joke, there are 4 people in an sinking boat-Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, but only 3 life jackets. The Christian, Jew, Muslim all looked around and at each other. The Buddhist said, I'll go.

11. Don't assume the election process is that far gone. It isn't, yet

I assume that a close election can in many districts, in many states, be stolen. Which votes are most vulnerable to tampering varies widely based on many different systems in use, and who is running them. Some systems are strong, some are not. But there are some Republicans who still take democracy seriously, and those who want to subvert elections often can't be sure where potential whistle blowers lurk. At this stage in our slide toward authoritarianism most of the media is still free, which is not the case in true authoritarian States.

Election theft is most likely around the margins, where it is possible at all. A one to three percent shift in results, selectively, is within that shadow of uncertainty that election theft in a relatively open society depends on. Fraudulent results have to appear plausible, especially in the current electoral environment where Trump's approval ratings have consistently been way under water, and Democrats have way outperformed expectations in virtually every election held since November 2016, and where all polls indicate that there is far greater enthusiasm to vote among Democrats than among Republicans.

We need to make sure those trends continue. We have to make sure that the youth vote spikes in November, and that the Hispanic vote spikes in November in particular. These are not Pro Trump demographics. If they vote in greater than normal numbers and if turn out this November is up in general - it will not be plausible for Republicans to avoid the blue wave that is being forecast. It must be clear that the American public mood is overall to place a check on Trump before voting begins, and the voter turn out on election day must reflect that. If so we can retake Congress. We already won a Republican Senate seat in Alabama.

17. Sorry, but your privilege is showing

Seriously. Because every one one of the things you fear is something generations of people in other countries sometimes had to live under. And often leaving was not an option they could even consider.

Look at history, and look around the world. Even in the worst dictatorships, tin-pot third world authoritarian cesspools, and the like, people still meet, get married, have children, eke out lives. Yes, they are often marked with inequity, injustice and tragedy, but people do it, because that's just what people do.

And sometimes they choose to fight. They become revolutionaries or rebels, risking life and limb. Or, if that's not their inclination, they hunker down and find ways to survive. They might not fight the system, but they are still fighters every day and every way.

I'm half Korean. Every time I have felt down since Election 2016, I recall that my mother was born when her country was an occupied satellite of the Japanese Empire (she wasn't even allowed to have a Korean name until the Japanese left). My family was repeatedly displaced during the Korean war, and eventually split (my grandfather was a communist sympathizer and disappeared north, leaving my grandmother in poverty and the stigma of having a traitor in the family).

The South Korea my mother grew up in was ruled by a corrupt fake democratic president, followed by a succession of military dictators, all of whom were aided and abetted by the wealthy of the country, and a U.S. military and intelligence policy that favored anti-North activities over promoting genuine democracy and freedom. She knew people whose lives were ruined for political reasons, people who disappeared, and what it was like to not be free to speak your mind.

And guess what? She and my other relatives still had full and rich lives. Despite all that crap. So, to quote "The Shawshank Redemption," "Get busy living, or get busy dying."

Giving up before making an effort...well we will deserve what comes

He's had years of practice in the art of bullsht. We've never had to deal with such tantrums and pettiness even from our own kids. Tune out for a week, find a nice cafe and book, and in a week you can be rejuvenated with just a little hope for humanity.

23. It's worse than hopeless

Technology has created a turnkey totalitarian state for anyone who dares to take it.

Republicans know demographic trends make it more and more unlikely they can win fair elections. They value power over patriotism.

We'll need to start a real democratic Underground.

22. Well, it's obvious what we need to do....

Get out and vote and help to get out the vote.

Every day, though, it still seems like we are outnumbered and have been out-maneuvered legally and politically at every turn. I go on any news website and it seems that the comments are always flooded with Trumptard comments and it seems that every-day people are less motivated by their supposed love for this country or a motivation to do what is best for this country, but by hatred of people like us and a desire to see us suffer.

31. Stepping away might be your best bet.

Day after day of Trump’s news can be overwhelming. There are days it feels like he and his crew get away with everything. Those thoughts wear me down and I have to turn off the tv and the computer. Know that others have shared those thoughts at times and find something positive to focus on. Hope you can find some peace.
