(14,167 posts)We really need Democratic leadership who can lead this fight. We have a lot of strong organizations like MoveOn and DFA and Indivisible. But we need to come together and make one big fist for a knockout of this racist and fascist regime.

(27,254 posts)And when I meet someone who supports Twitler I will stop talking to them and walk away. If I am working for a Twitler supporter I will not engage them but be silent and just do my job quietly with minimal interaction.

(24,906 posts)we went somewhat beyond the bounds of civility to stop the Vietnam war. It wasn't easy and it took a long time, but it worked.

(9,527 posts)or the Indian Independence movement or Cesar Chavez, or the Singing Revolution where the Baltic states gained independence from the Soviet Union, the Velvet Revolution, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the People Power Revolution in the Philippines, the Cedar Revolution in Lebanon, much of the women's suffrage movement in the U.S., tree sitters in New Zealand.
But sure, civility has never done a thing.
Also the violent protests against the Vietnam war were ineffective. The Weathermen's Days of Rage was an absolute dud. And there's a reason Nixon was happy when he was told in a briefing to expect increased violence among protestors. He literally wrote "Good" on the briefing.

It's so infuriating and unfair. I hate McConnell so freakin much, almost more than Trump. He needs to hurry up and die off and spend eternity in hell.

(11,717 posts)I like to think that The Other Side is honorable and that Michelle Obama is correct.
But it's obvious at this point that the only thing these fascists understand or respond to, is Power. So, let's start standing up and being fucking defiant. Neither SHS OR her boss should be tolerated in civilized public company...The ONLY place they should feel 'secure' in how we feel about them is at one of his Riechstag Rallies(sp).
Anyplace else, they should be made to feel unwelcome because they damnwell ARE. And it's about more than just the politics of the moment, it's about the morality of what this nation was conceived to represent, and they aint it.
