(976 posts)time and effort trying to get Garland confirmed. Obama, Shumer, et.al. knew that after the election the senate would confirm Garland rather than risk a more liberal nominee by HRC. I think Obama was a great president, but he made a very bad mistake. He had the moral high ground. He should have been on TV everyday demanding that the senate perform it's constitutional duty to at least hold hearings on Garland. He should have publicly shamed McConnell for being the scoundrel that he is. Instead he just said to himself, "what the hell, Hillary will take care of it."

(14,167 posts)The Republicans have gone so far right, they are sitting in fascism. We need a strong left to counter that.
A lot of establishment Dems don't really know HOW to fight -- they may have good intentions, but they don't have the drive and the skill set we need to win this war.
We also need to start vocally and publicly supporting our Democrats that DO fight. We didn't fight hard enough for Hillary either. That has got to end.

(6,535 posts)Really though, if one side is trying to play by the rules, and the other side just says "fuck the rules; we'll do whatever we can get away with," it becomes an untenable situation for those interested in fairness and the rule of law and such.
