WOW! A Military Parade in his honor on AND a MAGA rally in Montana? #MidtermsIn129Days

White House confirms Trump to stump in Montana on July 5

https://www.greatfallstribune.com/story/news/2018/06/28/president-trump-stump-gop-montana/741286002/

President Donald Trump will come to Montana on July 5 to bolster support for Republican candidates in the Nov. 6 midterm elections.

The visit was confirmed Thursday by White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters, but it was not immediately known whether he was coming to Great Falls.

The president's official website had Great Falls listed as the location for the event for a brief time on Thursday evening, but the page was down shortly afterward.

Montana Republican officials could also not confirm the location of the event as of late Thursday.

Planning for Trump's military parade finally getting underway

WASHINGTON — Four months after President Donald Trump directed the Defense Department to organize a military parade, planning is just beginning but no budget has been assigned yet.

Pentagon officials told NBC News that they will be able to pull off the extravaganza, but the lack of momentum is notable — and possibly indicative of low enthusiasm for the event outside the Oval Office.

"There is only one person who wants this parade," a senior U.S. official said, referring to Trump.

Even some White House officials are uninterested in planning the parade and are dragging their feet, according to a senior administration official.

1. I imagine a parade could very well backfire on him.

He might want it, but it'll anger Democrats and piss off independants.

2. I am honestly curious about how a military parade would affect voters

Surely his rabid base would be all for it, but some of the less committed might not like it very much. Plus, a military parade just before the mid-terms might just push an extra 10% of Dems out of their comfy chairs to the polls.

It will be another thing to fire up his deplorable base, while more sane people will shrug their shoulders and go "meh".

If you already don't like Trump, his stupid-ass parade is really just sprinkles on the cone. As much as I detest the idea, and feel for the troops that'll have to do it, there are so many other more critical issues right now that I can't spare the outrage.

I suppose the thought that it moves us a notch further toward being a banana republic is disconcerting, but it is just a small baby step in the midst of leaps toward that end.

As a former military vet, I can assure you the rank-and-file, as well as a lot of the upper echelons, absolutely hate military parades. It takes away from more important work. The only ones that enjoy them are the people up front, in the reviewing stand.

If baby prisons doesn't get someone to change their opinion of him, a military parade certainly won't.

The only difference, though, is that baby prisons are something that is happening to "illegals" in another part of the country. A military parade, on the other hand, is the executive branch behaving like the dictator of a third world country. That should concern everyone. However, I have a feeling that the majority of our country don't understand that military parades are what third world dictators do.

So maybe the upside will be that many more in our military will turn against him.

You can see why I'm ambivalent about this! So many variables. So many unknowns. It'd be best just to call it off.

3. No honorable US soldier wants to salute a five-time republican Draft Dodger

I mean, they will do when they are ordered, but it's disgusting that republicans are making our men and women in uniform salute a freaking a-hole republican draft dodger.

No salute from me. Damn straight.

He has pissed on our POWs, our veterans, and our Gold Star Families. And the republicans submissively eat up his disrespect for our enlisted personnel. Disgusting.

Which will help our brave men and women more- an expensive parade to glorify Trump for entertainment value and propaganda, or money for charities that help provide services to those that have served, are currently serving?

I gladly gave a bit extra at an American Legion fish fry this year to give some extra spending money for personal care teams to low income vets living in subsidized housing/facilities.
