GOP Lawmakers Lose Patience with Trump’s Tariffs
July 3, 2018 at 6:07 am EDT
By Taegan Goddard

“Republican senators are at their breaking point with Donald Trump’s protectionist trade blitz,” Politico reports.

“Not a party meeting goes by these days where multiple Republicans don’t vent that the president isn’t listening to them — and plot how to fight back. The mounting frustration with the Republican president is a warning sign for the party amid what’s been a surprisingly favorable stretch.”

“But Republican senators say they can’t get the president to comprehend that his tariffs offensive could upend all of that progress in short order. Commodity prices in the heartland are sagging, U.S. allies are retaliating with tariffs of their own — and GOP leaders are fretting that the booming economy is about to go into a pre-midterms nosedive.”

do something about it.

The truth is they are lazy, worthless, slugs, who won't do anything to cross the creep in the WH

The only way that will redeem America is 2018, is an entire repudiation of him and the republican party, and I have very little confidence anymore that will happen

4. They sit in their pretty little gerrymandered districts where they are safe from consequences.

And now they suddenly realize that being a politician means having responsibilities.

10. You're not allowed to say that. Only Democrats, with their record turnouts and consistent wins

since 2016, are allowed to be called "disarrayed."

Republicans keep scattering when their baby-master holds matches to gas spills leading to their houses, but that's just them, "showing party discipline."

There's no doubt Donnie's anti-trade actions are damaging to the economy and making a recession more likely and sooner than it otherwise would be.

But I don't see it being damaged enough to change the political dynamics by November. That's only a few months away.

Well, unless Donnie escalates bigly and quickly. Note that everyone else is not escalating, they're only playing tit-for-tat.
