(7,725 posts)How that's not completely obvious to Mueller is beyond me. One lousy charge to get us started would be fuel enough to stop him bc he's under indictment...one lousy charge. he could bring ALLLLLLllllll the others later. Just can't get even one charge out?

(4,248 posts)There were obviously more than 3 people eating. When my wife and I have breakfast at Bobs Diner in Pittsburgh it comes to around $23 for the 2 of us.

(56,582 posts)It's hard to find an actual dive anymore. It's mostly places where you pay through the nose for fake dive feel.
There's always the Florida Ave Grill, though. May it never change.

(59,877 posts)Trust us to take a great little note on the bottom of a bill, ignore it, and then rag on about what the meal cost.
Whady'all think rents are in DC these days? This is not Butte, Montana. We don't know who was there or ordered what, and besides, ten per cent of the total was tax. My wife and I will be looking at the same thing on Cape Cod later on this month, and you can bet yer sweet bippy that Trumapnzees do NOT hang out in Provincetown, Massachusetts in the summer (Rachel Maddow does, for example). But the rents on Commercial Street (almost the ONLY street) in P-town are sky high, and the places there have about 4 months to cover 95% of their year's expenses. I pay the outlandish prices and tip more than I need to, because NO ONE is getting rich off of me. No one goes to these places "to be seen," it's just what it costs to run a restaurant in certain places without going broke. If we want the same Provincetown to be there next year (and the ocean doesn't gobble it up), then we pay for these people to survive. No one running a restaurant there winters on St. Barts. Same goes for the Daily Grille or Capital Grille, or wherever this was in D.C.
What we SEE here is a great note, obviously programmed by the management, for ALL patrons to see.
THAT is all that matters. REALLY!

(59,877 posts)I had breakfast with a friend a few years ago. He happens to have been governor of Vermont once, and chaired our party during a crucial (and successful) time. He left a big tip because he found our waitress so great (she was). I posted about it, as the good doctor still has a few fans on this board.
Some people wanted to know what we talked about (right question). Some wanted to know why breakfast cost so much (wrong question--you have a chance to hear what Howard Dean has to say about the current political scene, and nothing else matters except to comment on except the price of breakfast in New York City, right)? Fer Pete's sake, it was in midtown Manhattan, a zillion degrees below zero without the wind chill, we both had work to do that morning, and he chose a place that was convenient for both of us.
I swear, some people won't drive a car unless someone punctures their tires first.

(4,479 posts)Trump doesn't understand that just about everything he puts in his mouth has been touched by immigrants. From picking the produce and processing the meat, to cooking the food, we depend on low paid immigrants trying to make a better life for their family.
